Cheney got a standing ovation from lawmakers in his first public appearance since last Saturday's hunting trip. He told them he'd had a "very long week."

Whittington said he's a "lucky person," and that the event brought a "cloud of misfortune and sadness."

And he said he sent the Cheney family his love and respect, "As they deal with situations much more serious than what we have had this week."

9. The "Friday" comment is very curious.

Since he read a prepared statement, that I'm sure was vetted by the White House, how did this incorrect date get used?????? So was the accident on Friday OR Saturday?????
