The subject was the faulty aim of Vice President Dick Cheney, and when his KGO radio talk show cut to a break on Wednesday afternoon, Pete Wilson didn't know the microphone was still on.

Wilson riffed: "That's right,'' the veep was drunk or perhaps "leaning up against a tree'' while "blinking some woman'' or getting (an act unfit for a family newspaper but sometimes performed by White House interns). To a person who tuned in exactly at that moment, those comments may have sounded a teensy bit disrespectful to the second-in- commander-in-chief.

But Wilson said later that afternoon that he was being sarcastic, merely responding to calls he'd received on air. "I was getting a little frustrated,'' he said. "While I was being heavily critical of the vice president, the Bush and Cheney haters were saying he was drunk.'' Another caller opined that the vice president had been having an affair with a staff member. He cut off callers with such personal observations. "I was responding to the calls and I was being completely sarcastic. I think it's bad enough what happened, why don't they just talk about what actually happened?''

of republicans and fundies. They ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS AT ALL. cheney may not get legally charged but in a strange way, that would actually be better for him. His base could make a martyr out of him that way but the thought that he shot someone while hunting, on a trip preceding Valentine's Day with someone other than his wife, (and trust me, they weren't playing cribbage), and there was alcohol involved and he couldn't get his lies straight. I think it's hilarious, BIGTIME!!!!:toast:  :applause:

It's difficult to keep track of all of all of the Republicans in the provinces (I don't receive KGO in my city, and the article did not distinguish).

Thanks for your understanding and exclamation point.

19. He actually has the nerve to claim he's a Democrat?!!
I go OUT OF MY WAY to avoid listening to him, so I never knew that. He has always struck me a republican, so help me God. I guess he's a Democrat in the tradition of zell miller and joe lieberman.

tirades about "why can't we just discuss issues sensibly." Thats his pet peeve. As you know, the majority of the callers are dems and he can't understand why they don't agree with him on his right of center ideas. As one caller told him you can't discuss Politics with a right winger, sensible.

5. I'm surprised ol' law `n order Pete...
... didn't say, "nothin' I wouldn't have done, m'self."

Y'know, a lot of people in this country idolize the `pugs because they think they're smart. If the public saw a little more of them as they really are, they might not be inclined to view them that way.

14. No problem. Pete Wilson of KGO is as rightwingnut as they get
Melanie Morgan, who harassed Cindy Sheehan with the 'counter demonstration' caravan b.s. is from his sister radio station KSFO, and ABC owned station just as KGO is the flagship in radio and TV for Bay Area ABC viewers and listeners. KSFO even bills itself as Hot Talk radio, knowing they're being inflammatory in their pandering to rightwingnuts.

No appology necessary. If Pete Wilson, ex Marine himself just like the former Gov and I'll bet a Republican too, you've done us a favor no matter what.

8. Wilson is such a freaking jerk.. what's really egregious about him
is that he's not only a right winger radio talk show host, he goes directly to ANCHORING THE ABC TV NEWS immediately after his two hour radio show.

it's really outrageous - his smarmy attitude bleeds in to his reporting vis a vis tone, and other smarmy quips injected into the wire reports.

he makes me ill, i don't why San Francisco puts up with him and Ron Owenns at all, but particularly Pete Wilson. (not to be confused with the former Governor, no relation)

21. If something leans a little to the left they go right to balance it out.
These seat-of-the-pants centrists are terrible pilots. In a fog they will spiral into the ground.

18. Spot on
it's really outrageous - his smarmy attitude bleeds in to his reporting vis a vis tone, and other smarmy quips injected into the wire reports.

Notice how he injects opinion and editorializes with just voice inflection? Cripes, he poisons the well and it doesn't even show in the transcripts. Paul Harvey does the same damn thing.
