The issue is the war - don't lose sight of that.
3-4-5 kids a day die over there, every day.

And there is no draw down coming - shit, would you want to be one of the kids left if there was?

1,100 more of our kids are going to die there by November. A very sick probability.

And it is the default news story when all else is quiet.

Everything else is tactics at this point.

Joe

1. A draw down is coming
For political reasons: the mid-term elections. And the new Iraqi government, when it gets formed, will want a reduction in foreign troops.

2. I thought so - I prayed for it, too.
I don't really know about other kids, but I know my kid goes back in July and all the Strykers go back now. Paying my brother in law an awful lot to go back, too.

It is an offensive force, Strykers.

Something is going down, was a military brat too long.

In fact I wrote a book about the abuses of the military.

November looms very large right now.

3. We have no right to invade the country as the first place
In the eyes of the world, we're no better than the Nazis and the Soviets. And many people paid a price.

4. Now is now, so to speak.
It is what we can do now, and that is all we can control.

You are wrong about the Nazis. I think the world was looking at a new dark age. You ought to look at the photos from Buchenwald - because that was going to happen here.

No, we have no right to invade the country. We can cry in our "beer" or do something about it.

We better do something about it - we are playing with fire here.

Those assholes really hate us. Maybe for a reason. Either way, it is in our hands right now.

5. the issue is far bigger than the war . . .
the war is but one symptom -- a major one, to be sure -- of the move toward a police state/oligarchy/dictatorship in this country . . . it must be considered in context with other sypmtoms such as election fraud, 9/11, the shredding of the social safety net, corporate control of Congress, environmental devastation, etc. to understand the larger syndrome . . .
