65 Coal miners trapped!

Don't bother looking at the cable news channels they are in Mexico, no coverage. Must not have been any whites or Americans in there.

1. You know, I really do feel badly for these people.
You need to be addressing your concerns to the Mexican government, perhaps? Does not Mexico have any responsibility for the working conditions of its laborers?

2. I assume Coahuila is responsible for the oversight of the conditions

Where did you get any idea that I thought otherwise?

4. I think the "concern" here is that lack of media coverage in the US
seems to suggest that we don't give a damn about miners unless they are white.

The poster is correct, imo. When it's Europeans, Canadians or Americans...we pretty much see it on the news.

3. I saw that.
I'm afraid that mine accidents happen far too often, but we are only hearing about them recently because it's "in vogue" at the moment for the news media. It's so frightening to me. I hate the thought of people in our country or anywhere in the world who are in so much danger just trying to feed their families.

5. Funny you mention Mexico. Read THIS:
"Coal mine exec suggests recruiting Hispanics*
Kentucky workers lack solid work ethic, man wrote before Sago tragedy"

* by 'hispanics' he means illegal aliens
