Sixteen--Five.....Drill it into everybody you know.
This is it!! This should be on the lips of every country loving, peace seeking, world esteem regaining, constitution saving, fed up Amercan that wants America back.

This is all we need to regain the majority in BOTH houses. Sixteen in the House, five in the Senate. We can do this.

Approximately 40 or more House seats are competitive already and repugnant Senators are scrambling for their lives.

Say it loud and say it often. Don't forget it. Make it our war chant.

SIXTEEN---FIVE !!! ..... ALL THE WAY TO NOVEMBER !!!

2. I love your enthusiasm
I hope Republicans don't beat us to it. We have a media vacuum on the Democrat ideas and a wide-open chance for the "reform" wing of the wing-nut party to start back-talking themselves and thus re-focus conservative America's eyes on yet another Republican alternative.

4. I don't know of any congressional elections
before November.

I just don't think many people realize how few seats we have to win to regain control.

The Republicans took 52 seats when we lost control.

We have to tout this and work as tirelessly for it as the Marines do Semper Fi...........Sixteen Five and America comes alive !!

"I just don't think many people realize how few seats we have to win to regain control."

Sixteen - Five is not that many.

Great idea! I like the sound of 16 - 5 !

6. well, as I always say
if you believe that, then we've given up, as long as you think that voting won't matter. I mean, we need to make are show of support, and when it's just so apparent that our candidates are the most popular and we get ticked enough, they can't pull this shit forever.... trust me, I know your cynicism and agree with it, just don't give up on voting.

7. It's not cynicism, it's reality. And we MUST deal with the
reality of our corrupted elections or our winners don't get seated.

That doesn't mean not voting. It means insisting that our vote be counted. :)

25. You got that right. Every Vote Counts - Count Every Vote....
Now you rethugs.... count 'em ONLY ONCE.

I say we make sure DEMS take off work for elections and see that things get done right. If they try to lock the doors and count in secret, we peacefully demonstrate our ability to use screwdrivers to unhinge doors, place them gently down and sit on them enmasse so that no sneaky hanky panky can go on.

We challange every discrepency until it is reasonably explained or the proper vote counted.

LOUDLY PEOPLE, but peacefully. Be HEARD. BE understood and DEMAND Respect for our rights as Citizens.

8. My friend
If we can harness the anger I see here on DU and transpose that into the rest of the country, they better install smoke detectors on those machines.

59 MILLION Americans voted against Bush in 2004. A few things have happened since then. Even the rednecks who think the last words to the Star Spangled Banner are, Gentlemen Start Your Engines--are like a hill of fire ants over this port turnover.

I heard one yesterday on the call-in say, The Democrats are right, Bush has got mush for brains.

Our representatives are not going to do it. We have to !! We have to work more tirelessly than we ever have. It's an all out assault on this fucking group. We have 78 MILLION people who didn't even vote. I bet a bunch will this time.

We know the numbers. We know the mission. And I'm on it !!!

24. This time, more DEMS should take the day off to guard the polls.
If they try to take the vote count behind doors, bring out the screwdrivers, unhinge the doors and stand peacefully in the doorways enmasse. Don't give them any reason to use the new detention facilities on US Citizens.

WE ARE THE "WE" of WE THE PEOPLE.

It is OUR right to see our votes are counted.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. 2006 - 2008 OURS. Period.

21. How about 88-22...
If we can get that at least by 2008, we'll have supermajorities on both sides where we can pass bills that can't be vetoed (assuming we have no DLC defectors then) and also start getting some constitutional ammendments passed to help overcome the "packed" supreme court now... Might not be able to do that before 2006, but for 2008, that might be a goal to help fix things if by the time that rolls around, the public sees the need for those kind of changes to be put in place (things like striking down any notion of "corporate personhood", formalizing Roe v. Wade into a constitutional ammendment, updating campaign financing rules, etc.).

acknowledging he's made it very hard for his supporters to support him, that they have had to "keep their heads down." He's behind by double digits. He's toast.
