DU and the UAE Story

Last week Autorank posted about the UAE Port sale here. This was the 1st thread and place I saw it posted. Maybe someone else posted it first here or elsewhere on the net, but it wasn't on my radar screen. The story got a lot of traction here and made greatest page in no time. Then I saw it over at Atrios. Then dKos, then....everywhere.

Congrats Autorank! Whether George Bush knows it or not, you are one of his worst nightmares.

And thanks DU for a site that allows important information to get media oxygen needed to make it a national issue.

I probably shouldn't have posted the OP without checking my facts (Disclaimer: I'm not a journalist, I only do OP/ED on DU...:-) )

I think the Wall St. Journal had it the week before. I will have to go through some back issues at work to confirm, however.

You are in a unique position to comment on this subject. Frankly, I am willing to bet that a clear majority of UAE citizens are as forthright and moderate as we are. But I'm willing to exploit just about any situation if it will rid us of this administration. After 5 years of watching these bastards destroy this country, just about any means that will justify this end. Ultimately, it is in the people of the UAE 's interests to see regime change in the US...even if it creates short term animosity and busts this deal.

That said, I'm not sure any country should have control of our ports and critical infrastructure.
