Rep. Peter King "it's the heart and soul of the Republican Party opposed"
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 11:04 AM by Stephanie

This New York Republican is outraged! Hah!

Bush would easily be overridden if he vetoes any bill stopping the takeover, said Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, who said he was "absolutely mystified" by the president's stand.

"I've never seen such unity on an issue across the board . . . This is not a partisan issue," King said.

Asked about Bush's remark that the deal's opponents are treating Arab-owned and British-owned businesses differently, King said, "The president has to know there's a difference between Britain and Dubai.

"Britain wasn't one of only three countries to support the Taliban before 9/11. Britain didn't have financing links to terrorists. Britain didn't allow transshipment of weapons from the A.Q. Khan network <which exported nuclear-weapons technology from Pakistan> to Iran."

He also pointed out that "even Saddam Hussein didn't recognize the Taliban."

"This isn't just a few guys from New York overreacting — it's the heart and soul of the Republican Party opposed," King said.

that the Repugs are more "worm-like" than "Aspen-like.":puke:

3. Bush will sign this bill - count on it.
No matter what he says, he (or KKKarl) isn't gonna let Bush be *utterly* emasculated by having the veto overriden, by his own party. Nope.

10. King's usually a Bushbot...
...but this is close to home (and heavily against), so he has to make at least a show of resisting.

14. He just whistles in the wind and dances a little sidestep...

"Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Now my good friends, it behooves me to be solemn and declare,
I'm for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer.
And now, my good friends, you can sleep nights, I'll continue to stand tall.
You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya'll...

Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

12. Wow! I smell the stench of Martial Law in the air.
If the entire congress turns against Bush will he disband it?

For purposes of National Security, President Bush adjourned Congress today, until further notice. Citing "good intelligence" that an attack on the Capitol was imminent, the President adjourned Congress "for its own protection. Heh, heh, heh..."
