Bill O'Reilly's petition to Fire Keith Olbermann
and Bring Back Donahue

Dear Chairman Wright:

We, the undersigned, are becoming increasingly concerned about the well-being of MSNBC and, in particular, note the continuing ratings failure of the program currently airing weeknights on that network at 8:00 PM EST.

It is now apparent to everyone that a grave injustice has been done to the previous host for that time slot, Phil Donahue, whose ratings, at the time of his show's cancellation three years ago, were demonstrably stronger than those of the current host.

Therefore, in an effort to rescue MSNBC from the ratings basement and to restore the honor and dignity of Mr. Donahue, who was ignobly removed as host three years ago, we ask that you immediately bring Phil Donahue's show back at 8:00 PM EST before any more damage is done.

If they took him off the air, I would quit watching any cable news except the Daily Show and The Colbert Report. You can get a lot more honest reporting on those two shows and Countdown than any other so-called news programs.

Some facts O'Reilly did not tell you.

1) Keith Olbermann has the #1 rated show on MSNBC, Hardball is #2, and Rita (Man Voice) Cosby is #3.

2) The Craptor, oops I mean Factor is in a ratings slide, the ratings are dwon from 2.5 to 1.7 in the last 2 weeks. Last week the Craptor was only getting 1.8 to 1.9 million viewers a night, when he normally gets 2.4 to 2.5 million a night.

3) In the prized demo (25-54) nobody is watching the Craptor, he only gets 400,000 viewers a night in that demo. And that is the only demo the advertisers care about. Basically 75% of the Craptor audience is a bunch of over 54 year old right wing stooges.

The petition is a joke, and O'Reilly has lost what little mind he had left.

134. DON'T sign any such petition. Ignore him, and his power diminishes.

All he wants is your ire and your attention. Don't feed the beast.

Ignore him and stay focused on important issues, such as the mess our President, his administration and his party in control fo Congress have been making.

Bill is like a troll. He does stuff to get your attention and make everythinga about him. It serves two purposes:
- gets you off point, which he can use to show how "angry liberals" whine about everything
- gets his name and ugly mug in the news.

Don't feed the beast. IGNORE HIM AND HE WILL BECOME IRRELEVANT. Why? Because he can only be "successful" by pissing people off.

But, since nobody has brought that up, and most around here are more knowledgeable than I, I must be mistaken.

Was it KO who originally replaced Donahue? I remember Alan Keyes got his own show there for a bit about the same time. What was the timeline on this stuff? Also Lester Holt was doing a whore-job on some Iraq drum beat about that time.

153. I used to like watching

Donahue and was sad when his show was pulled. But, while I don't remember his ratings I do remember they were poor and much lower than the same time slots on the other Cable stations. Is it true that Olbermann's ratings are even lower? If so, O'Reilly may have actually helped Olbermann stay on the air, since MSNBC can't appear to be making programming choices based on O'Reilly's 'suggestions'.
