Is this legitimate?
I received an email today from someone saying that they are an Army Judge advocate, the email was addressed to a lot of people saying that I was one of many who posted a comment on line about the killing of an Iraqi by a Captain Maynulet.

The email states that the major is working on a masters of law degree at Judge advocates general's school, and as part of a thesis is conducting a survey on "combat related mercy killings".

The survey is an attachment to the email, however.

Has anyone else received such an email, and sent the reply back? Is this legitimate, or some sort of hacking attempt? (I haven't clicked on the attachment by the way to open it)

Oh, I believed personally that Maynulet should have got the Iraqi treatment rather than shooting him.

1. My suggestion is to contact the school...
to see if the school actually exists and then to find out if this guy is really there..

I don't trust any unsolicited emails that come into my email box...

Good Luck...

4. Thanks for replies
I don't really trust unsolicited emails anyway, so wouldn't have opened it, wondered if anyone else had received an email like this as well? There were a lot of names on there.

5. It Might be Legitimate, and Your Input Might be Worthwhile
It's a good idea to follow up through the school to make sure it's on the level.

6. If you have a yahoo account
re-direct the email to it and then you can open the attachment and see what's inside.
