From the same fellow that said: "it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope"... that is, to close their eyes to the unpleasant truth of what a serious situation they're faced with.

Being in a similar situation, we'd better not take advantage of the luxury of thinking the situation isn't all that serious...

I've been explaining to my daughter that when your liberty is intact these quotes are just boring things old dead guys said, but when your liberty is in jeopardy it's time to remember them and take inspiration from them.
