Protect Food Labeling Laws in Your State -URGENT - vote on Thursday
I just sent an email to my state Representative to protect local food safety. There is a bill right now in Congress that threatens to wipe out all food safety and labeling laws in your state!

This bill is dangerous for many reasons. H.R. 4167 ignores the basic reality that local and state officials are closer to communities and can react faster and more expeditiously than Washington D.C. For example, if someone tried to poison our food, state and local officials would be first responders. If this bill passes, they would lose their authority to condemn dangerous food.

Please take action today! Click on the link below to send an email like I did.

1. For a period of time, I worked as a health inspector and I feel that
stopping this legislation is critical. Please help stop it.

2. Friends of the Earth has a campaign too! SIGN THEM ALL! :)
Under the guise of promoting “uniformity” of food safety and labeling laws in the U.S., this bill requires all state food safety laws to be identical to the requirements of the Federal Food and Drug Administration. If the FDA has not passed a regulation on a food threat, then all state regulations on that threat would immediately be voided. And, since the states regulate many food safety issues not covered by the FDA, many food safety laws will be voided and replaced with no law at all.
