On Larry King, correspondent states that officials were listening in to

rescuers. Did anyone else catch that. It appears that officials new the "All 12 Alive" was bogus from the start. I wish I was paying more attention but she mentioned some mining authority or something.

I was unfortunate enough to catch the announcement that all twelve were alive last night at around midnight--I stayed up instead of going to sleep because I was so amazed that things had taken such a postive turn (I couldn't even begin to imagine that those guys had lived with the high carbon monoxide levels that had been previously reported in the mine earlier in the day)

Anyway obviously everyone knows the story now...it went from the men were going to walk out of the mine and head to the church, to what the stuation really was at about 4 AM then all the disturbing commentary today etc.

I feel horrible for the families but I cannot figure out how all this transpired it was almost like a case of mass hysteria but now that I read your post I am having some tin foil thoughts!

he said that the rescuers at the face reported to the fresh air control station, "12 bodies found, one alive." The fresh air control people heard, "12 bodies found, all alive." Fresh air reported to the command center that all the miners were alive and that was when all the State and Company officials started calling on their cell phones. After about 15 min. it was realized that the info they were giving out was wrong. No action was taken by any of the officials. The UWMA rep went to the state after about an hour and asked them to let the families know what was really going on. They wouldn't do it.

Maybe they were waiting for the SWAT team (GUN THUGS) to be put in place to protect the operators from the families of the workers.
