Today's Onion on the Democrats in Congress
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/45793

While I usually try to stay away from dissing on Dems, I would hope that every Dem in congress sees this and comes up with something better that..."we can do better".

1. "Bill McKay, for a Better Way!"
The Candidate, 1972

Looks like some Dem strategist rented that movie recently.

3. This article ought to be forwarded to everyone "quoted" in it.
It's funny 'cause it's true.

4. It's clever and will make the rounds
I bet kos puts it up on his site as well as others. I don't like it in the sense that it plays into the GOP meme that we lack ideas and plans. When in fact you can go to the DNC, DCCC, DSCC and other sites to read aplenty about the party's goal. But that's probably the problem, each spot has a different set of priorities. So we need to find a way to get the caucus unified around 4-8 key priorities( or less) so it's easier for the public to digest. For instance, one thinks of GOP and they spout out smaller government, lower taxes, strong defense(all bullcrap but nonethe less)
The caucus needs to get unified around our own set of values,
affordable health care(duh),
securing commerce and the borders(a huge window opened with the Dubai cluster-fuck),
and energy affordability (I don't like the energy independence thing, I don't think even the average Joe believes that this can ever be truly achievable so it falls on deaf ears and totally comes across as a politician's tell us what we want to hear promise)

5. dems.
I think this is kind of bull and at least condesending. while I agree that the dems. could use more backbone, some have stood tall and kept on message. Don't forget if we were to win with other then sunshine and honesty we would be little better then those we dispise.
