Trent Lott To Bush: “OK, Big Boy, I'll Just Vote To Override Your Veto”...

"I was offended," Sen. Trent Lott, Mississippi Republican, said of Mr. Bush's threat last week to veto legislation aimed at stopping the transfer of port operations to a company owned by the United Arab Emirates. He said Mr. Bush "threatened me before I even knew the details of what was involved or whether I was going to vote for the bill or not."
Mr. Lott said his immediate reaction was: "OK, big boy, I'll just vote to override your veto."
He called the White House, he said, to advise administration officials that they'd run afoul of some of their strongest allies in Congress.
"Don't threaten me like that again," said the former majority leader, recounting the conversation with an official he declined to name. "It doesn't make a difference if you're a Republican or a Democrat. Don't put your fist in my face. Where I'm from, we're willing to fight back."

I'm not bragging about my Senator, you can have him if you'd like but bottom line bush said he'd veto an override on an issue that had yet to be presented to the full senate. No doubt, there are so many republicans in DC that hate bush's guts. I know trent does.

they(the true Bush inner circle) do not really support or trust powerful lawmakers who are on "their side". They must be absolute cronies and given any opportunity, long before any of them gets too big for his britches or hinders their agenda, they will actively(behind the scenes) or passively(LIHOP) dump them.

Actually, I love it that when threatened, whatever else I think about Lott (and he's on my Schmitt List big time) that he picks up Little Boots' gauntlet and publicly discloses he was threatened, and slaps him right back in the kisser.
