7. ok, thanks for the links

Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) has read the text of the U.S. constitution to the U.S. Senate after the body voted 95-4 approving 3 amendments to 16 controversial provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act, set for renewal.

Feingold spent 34 minutes sharing the document with his fellow Senators, stopping to repeat the Fourth Amendment, which he feels the law violates.

The Fourth Amendment reads:

9. well, good for him. Wonder how many are listening?

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The Senate has yet to decide the fate of the overall extension of the Act, and is set to consider more Amendments designed to protect civil liberties.

Senator Jim Talent (R-MO) followed Feingold's reading by heralding the recent Hall of Fame election of Negro National League baseball players, attributing the faster pace of modern ball playing to professional sports integration.

He's providing evidence that people in this country support amendments to the Patriot Act to protect the liberties granted in the Constitution.

8. He is reading resolutions from states against Patriot Act...
Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Ohio, Maine, Montana....so far! I think he is brilliant!

If the Senators from those states vote for the Patriot Act, they should all be kicked out of office because they are not representing their constituents interests!

17. Leahy came right out and said 'police state'
in reference to items in the Patriot Act. But how did he rail against it? He said 'we can do better.'

We can do better? We can do better? Where is the passion? Where is the fight for our Constitution? Where is the defense of our civil liberties? Leahy can take 'We can do better' and shove it up his 'Police State.'

I wish his passion was more contagious in the Senate - can you imagine if all our Dems were as outspoken?

The more I hear of/from Russ Feingold, the more I think he should run in '08.
