Top 70 docs on call 24 hours for Dubya

NEW DELHI: This is some executive health back-up. Besides a six-member medical team which includes his personal physicians, 70 of India's top doctors will be on call for President Bush during the visit.

While 20 of them are from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the rest belong to the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital.

AIIMS, which has been chosen by the government as the 'finitive care hospital', has requested some of its most renowned specialists "to be available between March 1-3 for any exigency."

Dr Anoop Mishra, professor of medicine (AIIMS) said: "We will have to be on call 24 hours a day. We also can't leave station till the American president leaves India." Others from AIIMS include director P Venugopal, cardiologist K S Reddy, neurosurgeon V S Mehta, orthopaedic S Bhan, anaesthesiologist Chandra Lekha and general surgeons M C Mishra and S N Mehta.

13. It's probably overkill and won't be needed

I Love DU.

Weren't those the same bunches of yellow flowers we saw on another bush-a-pa-loser tour?
Maybe they just have the same plastic flowers on board AF-1 in case they land where nobody welcomes heir bush.
He sure does have a lot of people waving signs at him though. Hundreds of thousands out to anxiously greet the Bush entourage, that's what I'm hearing.

That's probably what the handlers tell George and Laura....." but george, you must stay behind this bullet-proof, and laser and molotiv cocktail, and nuke-proof magic shield...ahh, yea George this is the part where they want to greet Americans with flowers...ya.."

21. In 1984, I was on call for Internal Medicine in Lubbock Texas
when vice president Bush came to town on a campaign swing. I was paged by administration and notified that I was on call for VP Bush, and was expected to stay in phone contact for the evening. I expect I was about number seventy.
