New town to be squeaky clean: no porn and no birth control

NAPLES, FLA. - If Domino's Pizza founder Thomas S. Monaghan has his way, a new town being built in a quiet corner of southwest Florida will be governed by strict Roman Catholic principles, particularly when it comes to sex.

The Ann Arbor pizza magnate, raised by nuns in orphanages, is bankrolling the town called Ave Maria with millions of dollars, calling its construction "God's will.'' Stores won't sell pornographic magazines, pharmacies won't carry condoms or birth control pills, and cable television will carry no X-rated channels, he said in a speech last year to the Boston Catholic Men's Conference.

Civil libertarians say the plan is unconstitutional, and they promise lawsuits.

The town is being constructed around the Monaghan-founded Ave Maria University, which has its roots in the soon-to-be-closed Ave Maria College in Ypsilanti. Monaghan had originally proposed building the university at Domino's Farms in Ann Arbor Township but switched to Florida after meeting resistance here, including opposition to a plan to build a 250-foot tall crucifix.

The people who were so carefully chosen to live in the nightmare are unhappy, have filed claims against Disney and have altered all the rules for living in Helltown (not the real name). If you DON't use birth control or STERILIZATION (#1 birth control among married people), how the hell are you going to afford a $500,000 house with TEN KIDS "according to GOD'S Will" unless you are a MILLIONAIRE?

My soon to be "ex" husband lives there. They cannot get teachers. firefighters, police to move there because of the low salaries and the HIGH cost of living. They actually talked about building low cost housing for teachers ABOVE the school parking lots. That should "solve" the problem. ROFL

They are a joke and the rest of the country can see it. I say that as somebody who has a daughter majoring in Education whose father lives there. Her boyfriend, already teaching in NY WITH a Masters Degree AND an Aunt who lives in Naples, BOTH say NO WAY to moving and teaching there.
