Debating Freepers and putting them in their place.
I think that if everyone from DU went onto another political or non-political forum and called freepers on their false claims, this world would be a better place. I just started debating these freepers on a baseball forum I visit, and they don't know what to say. DU keeps me too well informed. Media Matters is a great help, too. The misinformation that conservatives peddle is easily proven wrong, yet their heads explode when you try and do it to them. I have found it to be very entertaining. The best forums are neutral ones with a lot of independents that will agree with whoever is being more logical and factual.

It's actually easier than you think getting these people to actually think about the world. They usually are just mindlessly repeating right-wing talk radio propaganda, and they are never challenged on the things they say. Once you start calling out their false claims and have proof to back your side up, they will usually shut up after a while.

So here's to DU and Media Matters for providing me with the factual debunking material for all this conservative propaganda. :toast: When debunking propaganda, ask them "Why?" a lot. Ask them to back up their claims and elaborate on them. If they are just mindlessly repeating propaganda, they will have no good answers. And it will show. So go out and fight some freepers if you are bored! They act all tough and puff their chests on internet message boards, but when you actually debate them with real facts, they are pretty weak.

1. my congratulations to all of you who can do this--I have enough living in
fundieville, listening to these people day in, day out, not to mention the freepers on several other boards I frequent. I have given up on them--because no matter how much evidence is given to them, they continue to stick their fingers in their ears, so they cannot hear.

3. I got shut down on a board. Political posts were banned...
There used to be about a 4 of us who would really pop the neocons with facts about the economy, the war, morality, voter fraud, etc. The webmaster is a very out there arch conservative (has called for nuking Iraq). We were outnumbered 10 to 1 but it's so easy debating neocons. All they have is Fox quotes and news which is easily debunked.

A couple of months ago the site got hacked. All archives lost. The WB started it back up and one of the new rules was no political posts.

I miss it. It kept me on my toes and those that didn't post to the threads might have learned something they wouldn't have found out in the MSM.

4. They believe W can do no wrong that would keep them from
crawling over broken glass to vote Republican.

They don't care if we don't have health care. They don't care if we have the homeless and uninsured. They don't care if our standard of living is sliding down a slope to third world status. They don't care if we lose our civil liberties. They don't care if our kids are being slaughtered in Iraq for no reason. They don't care if W is a corporate globalist favoring open trade and open borders.

I have no wish to try to communicate with them. They are like annoying little brats who want their toys and they could care less about the world as long as they get their toys.

5. Demanding they back up their assertions works wonders, too.
You may be surprised at the silence.

6. It all depends on the board rules
I don't like going to a board unless I know I'm going to enjoy myself there. Some boards don't allow politics because it gets people up in a fury and all that which is understandable if isn't a political board. As long as you follow the rules of the respective board(s).

8. Good point
This board has a particular political forum. So we can debate as long as we are not insulting to each other.

9. Not The Brainwashed Repukes I Know
here in Va, I know a lot too. The best I can do is get them to leave a room with their heads between their shoulders. They are so completely bigoted, brainwashed, dumbed-down...whatever you want to call it...they are simply incapable of learning.

They are rude, condescending, insulting and loud in their ignorance and lies. They have chosen a life of stupidity and I'm not going to be able to change that for them. Most of the time now, rather than chewing their dumb talking points to pieces, I simply laugh in their faces, just as they do to me.

This is a serious problem in America, the repukes are 100% brainwashed, I'm not kidding. Check out this article, it describes it better than I do:

--- "The partisanship in America is dangerous. It prevents clear thinking and taints one's perception of truth. Republican callers to Cspan believe the case against Abramoff is a partisan attack on their party. Rather than seeing the truth of the case, they harken back to sleep overs in the Lincoln Bedroom. Rather than accepting the facts of the case, they liable the Democrats they despise. Perfectly nice people so contaminated by party loyalty they throw their support to Abramoff, a self-confessed criminal." ---
