So, where did the Chimpy/Katrina tape come from?
I've read the AP article, and some commentary, but I don't understand where the tape came from. Surely the Chimp didn't approve of the release, right?

Is this material among the evidence which the Chimp refused to hand over to Congress? Was this material supposedly covered by executive privilege? Is this another HUGH break for the good guys?

Pardon my ignorance.

1. My money's on Brownie
He's the one that comes out looking the best of all the chuckleheads. Nothing like a rich man scorned.

3. No, just my gut reaction
Brownie's the only one of the administration who benefits from the release of the tapes.

4. If he did this, he's got guts. I'm sure the Bushes will
swift-boat him, or far worse, if they even suspect he took tapes with him when he left.

5. The Bushes already swift-boated him
when they blamed him for the Katrina disaster. I think Brownie's beyond caring if his former friends swift-boat him.

Serves Bush right for messing with members of his own class.

I don't really know who released the tapes, but it warms the cockles of my heart to think that one of their own would get even like this.

9. "Wellstones" are pre-emptive, before the fact acts.
Once the info is out, the bearer of the info is out of danger.

18. Exactly. If anyone had the "goods" on the regime, they would be
better off to publicize it. Wellstone, Carnathon, the Kennedy brothers, MLK and Malcolm X were threats to their ability to seize power.

C.McKinney and J. Conyers are among the most courageous and vocal opponents. But, at this point, they are enough of a threat to be in physical danger.

I have a feeling once Brownie finally realized their utter incompetence, he thought he'd just go for it. They're so politically tone-deaf right now that the timing of this leak is perfect.

Has anyone wrapped their brains around the White House spin yet? They ended up emailing transcripts to show how "on top" of Katrina the president was, but they forgot that they told CONGRESS the transcripts never existed??

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11626997/site/newsweek/page/2

But the administration initially told Congress that the transcript for the Aug. 29 call—the call congressional investigators were most curious about, given that it occurred as the hurricane was actually battering the Gulf Coast—did not exist, with officials initially telling Capitol Hill that someone at FEMA or Homeland Security forgot to push the button on a tape recorder.

“Everybody has been looking for that transcript,” former FEMA chief Michael Brown said Wednesday.

A White House official unexpectedly e-mailed the transcript to NEWSWEEK earlier today Wednesday morning—initially without explaining that it was the missing transcript... more

16. I don't believe that story
"Several news organizations...but it got stuck in a drawer and ignored until now...it got stuck in a drawer in every news organization that received it.

I'm inclined to believe the corporate media were covering for Bush as usual, but there are more angry people now so 'stuff' is coming out.

13. Always make sure your fall guy is very, very well compensated.
What amazes me is why they didn't find Brownie a nice six figure job counting paper clips at Halliburton or something.

Here's a guy who has the goods on them and they hung him out to dry. I mean let's face it, they made the man became a national laughing stock, he wasn't going to get a job anywhere.

I guess lucky for him and unlucky for Bush, while he may have been lacking in the disaster relief area, old Brownie seems to have been pretty good at the first duty of any bureaucrat.

Cover your ass.

14. I took the bait. I thought Brownie was the centerpiece, but he's
apparently something less. Chertoff however, like Bush, is apparently a mass murderer.

But still, Brownie never should have accepted the position in the first place.

17. Absolutely, he had no business doing that job.
But then again how different was he than many of the other Bush appointees? Being loyal to King George is the highest qualification--anything else--hey, we'll wing it.

15. What The "Doin A Heck Of A Job Brownie" Really Meant
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 06:46 AM by Binka
"Hey Brownie I am looking kinda bad here and I am gonna fuck you up!" It was just another of Bushes back handed slaps in the face. Brown thought the Don was giving him an advance on being a made man but Bush was already getting the horse head ready. (Yes Pun Intended!)

It was only when he realized that the calvary was NOT coming and he was made a fool of to the entire world did the fucking light bulb turn on. If Bush had given him cover he would have remained loyal; because he doesn't give a shit about black folks either, but when Bush made him the scapegoat and didn't provide him adequate cover, Brownie got pissed off and he leaked this video to the press.

He did it when Bush was out of the country so the impact would sink deep before Bush put the orders for a hit on him. I bet Bush hasn't been told that this video is public! Ah I love the smell of the mafia in the morning.
