Wait a minute, the Al Qaeda Memo got buried
Could it be this Administration would rather have the Katrina tape out there than the equally damning Al Qaeda memo from Clarke, along with the Clinton Administration plans???

http://www2.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB147/

This was just starting to really pick up steam yesterday, and suddenly we get that Katrina tape. This memo and the Al Qaeda Threat Strategy are as daming on 9/11 as the tape is on Katrina.

1. Thanks for bringing this up. I hadn't read it until now.
Interesting how direct the connection is between this memo and the events of 9-11. If Bush had followed through on the question of assistance to the Northern Alliance, is it possible it would have thrown a monkey wrench into some of al Qaeda's operations?

The assassination of Northern Alliance leader Massoud (sp?) always seemed like a covert cleanup job to me.

Also the comment about Uzbekistan gives me chills, for reasons of access to nukes.

2. Funny how this happens....
Recent example, feel free to add and comment:

The week Abramoff gets indicted, the news is dominated by a mine disaster in W. VA.

3. katrina tape v port deal v memo
yeah, it does look like the Katrina tape is a diversion - but I see it as just more nails in the bushies coffins...

bush says he didn't know about the port deal
bush said he didn't know about the devestation that katrina could cause

the list goes on about things he didn't know about..

5. Katrina tape is something Americans can wrap their brains around
This memo has been long known to exist. Aside from the stark nature of the actual wording of the warning and the details of what Clarke had ready as a policy if the Administration gave its approval there's not that much new here.

The Katrina tape shows that Bush was personally very well aware that the levees could break and that his fall guy was actually warning of problems with their plans ahead of time. Bush's detachment and arrogance is right there for all to see.

There's no defending that (although they'll try).

Now if we had Condi, or Rummy or Cheney or Bush on tape saying, "Pfft, who cares about a bunch of silly old terrorists." we might be able to get through.
