The Liberal Agenda

The idea for this article came out of a discussion I participated in in another DU thread. Whaddaya think?

The right-wing says that there is a Liberal Agenda. This agenda is chock full of evil. Liberals want to make Christianity illegal, kill babies, abolish the military, and advance the other agenda--the oft-cited "homosexual agenda"--onto our nation's innocent and impressionable children.

The left usually responds by saying, "There is no liberal agenda," and calling it quits.

But guess what campers--there is a liberal agenda. Oh yes, there really, really is.

The great liberal agenda, the object of the Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy, is to make life better for every individual in this country.

The Liberal Agenda is based on a truly simple concept, one that every American can understand with no interpretation whatsoever.

We're good neighbors.

8. I actually sent it out through the DNC's LTTE form--to all of the major

papers in my area--The Boston Globe, Providence Journal, Boston Herald--and the big national papers (NYT, WaPo, WSJ, etc...), so who knows, maybe it will show up somewhere.

10. Go for it--I honestly think this is a phrase we should all repeat as often

as possible until it permeates the Democratic establishment--I am going to send emails to as many Congressional party members as possible today and tell them exactly that.

It's long past time that our party had its own "tough on crime" type of slogan. This one evokes an already existing frame--it's exactly what we need.

11. Sent here in Iowa

Here is my letter sent to 4 papers here in Iowa.

Democrats have been attacked for pushing an evil Liberal agenda. The Right-wing wrongly says the Liberal agenda includes banning God, killing babies, starving the military, and promoting Homosexuality.

Many Democrats repsond by saying that there is no Liberal agenda. However, that is wrong as well.

There is a liberal agenda and it is simple and there is nothing evil about it. The vast Left-Wing Conspiracy that Democrats push is to make life better for every individual in this country.

The Liberall Agenda is one of empowerment, oppurtunity, equality, and justice. It can be told in one simple phrase: "Love thy neighbor as thyself."
