"I could have a beer with this guy" and other stupid reasons
that freepers/republicans voted for Bush* in both 2000 and 2004. That's the most common reason I've heard, that is, when they were talking about Bush*. They've gotten rather quiet now.

What other stupid reasons have you heard?

1. Hey if we elect Kerry he'll probably hand our ports over to the Arabs
Just imagine that! So we have to vote for Bush to keep safe.

26. Bush turned into a parody of Kerry.
Kerry allowing a UAE company to manage ports, and justifying it on the ground that we have to show "trust" for diplomatic reasons, would be a skit on the Limbaugh show to illustrate mushy weak dem thinking. But it lept right out of Bush's mouth.

one of the blockhead regulars in my sports bar actually said that out loud. I said, "I could probably have a beer with him, too, but that doesn't mean I think he can run the country. I want someone smart for that, like Al Gore."

5. Tweety had one other such stupid reason on the other night
I had not heard before.

"If Kerry and * were driving by and you were by the side of the road with a flat tire, who do you think would stop to help?"

Yup, that was the question; and according to Tweety, something like nearly 60% said *.

No foolin'. Sware to God. That's what he said.

47. The people polled also believed Bush was a fighter pilot in Vietnam -
and that Saddam was Bin Laden's partner in 9-11.

Gee - could it have anything to do with the MEDIA portrayal of Bush as an honest, straightshooting, stoic hero while protecting him from his own constant lies?

6. I happen to see Gene Simmons of Kiss on Fox News this morning
Talking about voting for Bush in 00 and 04. His reasoning was "When you're walking through a rough neighborhood you need a rotweiller with you, not a french poodle." He even added "Yes, sometimes a rotweiller can bite your children by accident but you still want one with you during those rough situations". What an idiot. He then went on to say several times how he also voted for Clinton and thought and still thinks he was a great president and that even Clinton's polls were in the 30's.

Yeah, asshat, Clinton's poll #'s were in the 30's 2 years into his term before he actually got the chance to do anything and have people see the results of his actions. Not 6 years into his presidency where he controlled all branches of government and has gotten his way on everything he wanted.

I'm proud to say I've always hated Kiss.

now he doesn't want to admit he made a mistake. Oh, Kerry isn't tough? Please, he served his country with honor and has the medals to prove it. Bush served where? State side and has some flight time to prove it.

29. But I think that's exactly how the Bush "national security" base thinks
and that's why the ports deal is a disaster for Bush.

Suddenly the rotweiller, the guy whose foot was always on the gas pedal and never on the break, the guy who didn't care how many civilians got killed going after "the enemy", the guy who really didn't bother to make distinctions between arabs and persians and sunnis or shiites and was just going to let god sort them out, is telling the US that there are these good arabs that we have to trust with our security for DIP LO MAT IC reasons.

Suddenly, Bush is a PARODY of Kerry, turning all mushy and so worried that some feudal emirates will have their feelings hurt if we don't give them their own set of keys.

33. I saw Gene Simmons on Bill Maher's show.
Both of them were speaking appreciatively of the military life. (This was just after the Invasion of Iraq.)

Maher seemed sad that he'd missed fighting in a war. Nobody mentioned that others serve their country a few years, even in "peacetime."

Simmons regretted that he couldn't go to Vietnam. He was in college, alas. I remember our Southeastern Asia adventure & was screaming at the screen.

I always hated Kiss.

48. That shows how IGNORANT Simmons is - Kerry chased down a soldier aiming
a shoulder rocket at his crew.

Kerry turns back INTO gunfire to save a man in the water.

Kerry is an expert marksman, an expert pilot and has superior coordination and balance.

Simmons feels safer with a guy who was too scared to land planes and went AWOL, is afraid of horses, and falls off a segway and his bike too often to be mere accidents.

Having a beer with this guy who *claims* to be a reformed alcoholic and no longer drinks (so he says)...

Other stupid reasons that have been proven wrong by his own actions:

"I'm a fiscal Republican and I know he'll handle our economy better..."

People who think he would be a good guy to have a beer with are forgetting that this silverspoon twit thinks the average joe is a moron, beneath contempt, and definitely not someone with whom to associate.

So, the question isn't "Who would you rather have a beer with?" It's "Who would be more willing to have a beer with the likes of the common citizen?" It sure ain't Silverspoon.

Fortunately, aside from my mom, i don't associate with anyone who thinks Silverspoon is a "regular guy" or thinks he's doing a good job. So, i don't have to actually confront this situation regularly. But, i did say it once, and the guy looked like his dog had just been shot. The very thought never entered his mind. Once it did, it at least made him think.
