What do you know about Northstar Zone's Chandra Levy story?
I got this email today. I don't know how old this information is or if it has been covered here at DU.

My question is about the source. Northstar Zone News? I haven't heard of it before today and would like to know if anyone here has and if the site is reliable for information or just another conspiracy theory gathering spot?

http://www.geocities.com/northstarzone/LEVY.html

<snip>

Anyone "connecting the dots" would have to conclude that Chandra Levy had come upon some of the most incredible intelligence secrets in history, including the plan to use huge terrorist strikes in America to justify global wars, finance the military industrial complex, and justify a police state here at home in a huge power grab. David Schippers, Chief Council for the House Judiciary Committee and head prosecutor responsible for conducting the impeachment against former President Clinton, went public revealing that in the months BEFORE the 9-11 attacks, many FBI agents had come to him informing him about the impending attacks. These agents knew the names of the hijackers, the targets of their attacks, the proposed dates, and the sources of the terrorists' funding, etc., many months in advance of the 9/11 attacks. The FBI command pulled them off of their investigations into these terrorists and threatened them with the National Security Act. They told them that if they talked about any of the information pertaining to their investigations that they would be prosecuted. So many of them sought the council of Mr. Schippers wanting to get somebody in the U.S. government to take action against these terrorists before their plan could be implemented. Mr. Schippers talked to many Congressmen and Senators, and tried to get a hold of Att. Gen. John Ashcroft, all only to get the run-around.

<end snip>

The whole thing sounds very much like a movie pitch.

1. This is so convoluted, I wouldn't give it much thought. Actually
sounds like some of the peculiar, unsubstantiated stuff that Wayne Madsen came up with months ago. Just too much speculation and no actual sourcing. I'll keep checking it out for you if you wish.

You're right, it does sound like a movie pitch.

In peace,

4. I get email like this and everyone wants to know my opinion...
I could tell just by my first scan of the story that it was certainly full of twists and then when I read the part about Hillary Clinton, I actually laughed out loud.

It's probably another case of we the people not getting the truth from our government and our reporters, so the theories come from stretching what information we do have. There is a little truth in all of this, but whether it all fits together is something else.

Thanks for your reply.

2. Astonamous, here is the splash page (ugly as can be) for NSZN.
http://www.geocities.com/northstarzone/

Go look at the articles listed there. It's about as bizarre as you can imagine.

5. Right. I interviewed Roy Masters in the 1970s in Boston. He had
darker hair then, but all the stuff he spouted was pretty weird. I do remember he had a nice voice, with a British accent, I believe. He can still be heard at www.fhu.com I believe.

8. Feminism is a con!
Seriously, how do you interview somebody like him without tearing the nonsense he spouts to shreds?

For instance, remember Terry Gross' interview with Gene Simmons? I was amazed at the restraint she showed. Another one I remember was her interview of Grover Norquist. She managed to treat him with the utmost equanimity.

11. My interviewing technique with the "touchy-feely" people in the
1970s was not aggressive nor was any attempt to dissuade them from their viewpoints. Perhaps I was more like Larry King, whom I replaced in Miami, than the very argumentative right wingers on now. Anyway, the guests talked and I listened attentively, which is what CBS Radio wanted at that time. That was the advantage of having guests. It calms people down (remember, it was during Vietnam and there was so much dissention on the airwaves then, just as there is now). As the first female with a daytime radio program in Boston, I tried to book a guest for at least one hour out of the four daily hours I was on -- and that originally was six days a week. It was a difficult grind, with a lot of anger back and forth on all the hard topics: capital punishment, bussing to achieve racial balance, war, feminism, abortion, etc. etc., but I did it and believe I did it well.

As for Roy Masters, people called and asked him questions and then thanked him for his advice. It was an easy show to do and he was very smooth and soothing. He clearly had a lot of followers in those days. I don't think he's the worst of the bunch, and as far as I know, he was never caught with a whore, or taking money for his foundation with no return. Notice his web site is a .com and not a .org. He has a money-making venture. Maybe it's a cut about the astrologers and the psychics. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Make peace a worldwide priority in 2006,

Radio_Lady

6. Oh lawdy... that's funny.
If you all knew who sent me this email and the trail of email addresses it came from, you would all be rolling around on the floor. I will say this much, Hollywood is a small town.

13. Do you want to PM me and tell me who sent it? I'd love to know and
I'd love to roll on the floor. I'm sort of connected to Hollywood -- went to U.C.L.A. Theater Arts/Television/Film Department, graduated with honors from TV/Radio/Film department of the University of Miami. Now, I've been a broadcaster, talk show host and a movie reviewer on and off for about three decades. Maybe some of the people in the email list were classmates or friends of mine!

14. Looks like Roy Masters and company are now in Oregon with me!
Either Central Point or Grant's Pass, OR. On edit: Jeeze, Roy Masters is still a handsome guy and that HAIR!

By the way, I refused to interview L. Ron Hubbard, the guy who invented Scientology, in the 1970s. Too far off target for me! I don't think there were a handful of people who I simply wanted nothing to do with...

In peace,

Radio_Lady in Oregon.

15. Last I heard, he was still in Grants Pass. As I remember,
a few years ago he was embroiled in some sort of of scandal and argument from people in Grants Pass. I cannot recall what the fuss was all about now. Wasn't really too interested in it at the time. Locals wanted him to leave the area.

10. This may sound petty, but ...
"So many of them sought the council of Mr. Schippers"

Counsel, not "council."

I simply can't take seriously any publication with spelling errors that imply lack of knowledge.

If there are facts to support it, I'm interested, but I can't take someone's suppositions, especially if I think that person may not be terribly accurate or perceptive.

12. I agree totally. Spelling and grammar mistakes really set me off.
I preview books and films on my weekly program. I'm reading a book tonight with the idea of inviting a guest on my show in the next month. I've found at least three mistakes in the first 35 or so pages. That puts my teeth on edge immediately!

The difference now is that self-publishing or vanity publishing is all the rage. The editing of those books is a cut WAY BELOW the major publishers, not that they don't make mistakes occasionally!

In peace,

Radio_Lady

16. Shippers? Now Who Do We Cast? Captain Crunch?
Sorry...Mr. Schippers went running back to Chicago following the Clinton inquisition and has been living in splendid isolation ever since. Plus, he worked for the House Judiciary Committee...how would he have gotten into Intelligence and National Security?

Nice story line. Maybe Scooter can do a write-up since he'll have the next 10-20 years of paid federal vacation time to work on it.
