"I hope people don't draw conclusions from the president getting a single

"I hope people don't draw conclusions from the president getting a single briefing," presidential spokesman Trent Duffy said, citing a variety of orders and disaster declarations Bush signed before the storm made landfall. "He received multiple briefings from multiple officials, and he was completely engaged at all times."

What I want to know is HOW MANY DAMNED BRIEFINGS DOES THIS ASSHOLE NEED BEFORE HE HEARS WHAT'S BEING SAID?!!!

If he was "fully engaged" then he is guilty of standing by while thousands of citizens died. If he wasn't, then he is patently incompetent and unable to fulfill the office of President of the United States.

When you are president and your hand picked FEMA chief tells you that there are likely to be catastrophic results from a hurricane much larger than Andrew, and tells you that the levees may not withstand an indirect hit, either you listen and respond or you abdicate your position. You do not try to fob off an excuse such as "He received multiple briefings from multiple officials..".

THERE IS NO OFFICIAL IN OUR GOVERNMENT MORE IMPORTANT DURING A DISASTER THAN THE HEAD OF FEMA! I want to know who counseled bush to ignore Katrina and delay life saving resources for days and weeks after the levees broke. I want an explanation as to why bush felt their advice was more reliable than FEMAs. I want to know what actions have been taken to ensure that these advisers are never again able to give such criminally incompetent counsel.

Aw Hell! I just want all of these bastards out of our government before the next disaster hits!

3. Methinks they protest too much
when we hear about how "engaged" he was and how many questions he asked and how they were just the right questions...

tells me they've been freaked out for a long time about his lack of intellectual curiosity and his general zoned attitude.

4. The Gulf Coast is going to get hammered...
destroyed, pulverized, demolished.....and the President gets 1 briefing....and to top it off he was there in body not mind...

To answer your question I think it was either Cheney or Chertoff...

I want to know who counseled bush to ignore Katrina and delay life saving resources for days and weeks after the levees broke.

The one story that we have not heard a lot about is the trains....people were screaming about the buses....

Amtrak had trains that they were moving to safer ground...they offerred to take people out of the city...they made this offer to FEMA and FEMA refused the help.....like many other sources of help which was refused..

<snip>
Take a look at these headlines – FEMA refusing all offered rescue assistance from Amtrack to experienced firefighters, FEMA not delivering on promises, FEMA barring delivery of desperately needed food or water to frightened and bewildered victims of Katrina, FEMA telling First Responders not to "respond" to the disaster. Does anybody but me see a pattern here? Is it possible for an emergency aid organization to show up at the scene only to refuse all offers of aid? Does McDonald's cook up a bunch of hamburgers and then lock its doors to its hungry patrons?

6. It honestly makes me ashamed of living in the U.S.
When I see how the bush administration destroys the very foundations of our society, breaking law after law, showing nothing but contempt for the rest of the world, then playing silly word games when thousands of citizens have died due to sheer, callous ambivilance and ineptitude, I am honestly ashamed to live here. When I see how many of my fellow Americans are willing to overlook such monstrosities, I become truly afraid.

What will it take for these people to understand that this isn't a game that we've taken sides on? This isn't about tax structures or property rights. This is about this country changing its very being from a republican democracy with guarantees for the rights of the minority, into a fascist regime who's leaders are systematically destroying everything and everyone who stands in the way of their consolidation of power.

I can live with an unfair tax code but I can't live with people who gleefully accept the cruelty that was Katrina and is Iraq. These people have finally gotten their wish - I -and many others- no longer consider myself an American.

5. Nope. I drew my conclusions that Boobya is an ass before the video.
Long before the video. Hell, I drew my conclusions about the sorry fratboy long before NO was left to die.
