He holds up the glass for the toast and then doesn't drink it. If he were going to drink, it certainly wouldn't be in front of the cameras.

14. The manner in which GWBush supposedly "gave up" drinking
.

The manner in which GWBush supposedly "gave up" drinking was, reportedly, through a bible study class or through being "born again." So says Dumbya, himself.

Now. What the hell does that mean as to "giving up" alcohol? Dunno. Do you? For example, must Dumbya totally abstain from drinking as one would if in a 12-step program? or most psychological thinking? Can Dumbya "control" his own drinking? Can Dumbya through his belief in his god "control" drinking?

Hhhhmmmm? So goes Dumbya.

37. You're attacking me like a child.
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 06:23 PM by onehandle
You know perfectly well what I mean. When people from a strict, repressed society come to an open one they may tend to go overboard.

Public drinking is not nearly as socially acceptable in India. Alcoholism is sharply on the rise. The rich import alcohol, the poor make a dangerous home brew. Still, less than 15% drink, mostly city dwellers. And mostly in secret.

When the ones who want to drink come to America, they may take advantage of our "free and open society".

They may "drop" their previous public social habits.

39. Yeah, I'm attacking you, that's it. LoL. I was simply having a laugh with
the previous poster, who had a similar experience as I did. Wasn't a big deep discussion, then you decided to drop in and start pontificating to me about Indian Society.

The folks I know are straight from India, and they are quite traditional, yet they like to drink, much more than I normally do. I didn't ask them if it was culturally acceptable or not and I don't claim to know a whole bunch about their society except from what my neighbors have shared with me. I doubt you know much about their society yourself.

With that, thanks for ruining a perfectly good, innocent laugh. Hope you feel much better and more superior than myself.

It could also be fizzy lemonade.

President Bush, left, shares a laugh with Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam during Kalam's
toast
at the start of the State Dinner at Rashtrapati Bhavan, or the President's House, in New Delhi,

He was probably "toast" by the time this pic was in the cam.

35. yeah, I know and agree, I just have never understood the

importance people put on alcohol use, and don't understand what religion has to do with an opposition to it. Would be hypocritical, I just don't think of it as any kind of issue other than that I guess.

33. Who ever thought the Pinhead quit for real? It was just part of his PR
scam. I remember watching his campaign 2000 and thinking he was strung out on coke. His election night with the BFEE was very different from his over-the-top campaign style. He was mellow. I thought there and then, he had to be doing COKE while campaigning.

36. I believe he is drinking -- just not with President Kalam since
from Kalam's biography comes this quote: " Kalam observes strict personal discipline, practicing vegetarianism, teetotalism, and celibacy..." http://abdul-kalam.biography.ms/
So this is probably just the Kool-aid they gave him to get the nuclear agreement signed.
