ABC EXCLUSIVE

EXCLUSIVE: New Al Qaeda Leader Planning Attack Against U.S.

Officials Say 29-Year-Old Pakistani Militant Emerging as Top Al Qaeda Figure, May Be Connected to Blast Outside Consulate

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=1676096&page=1

March 2, 2006 — Pakistani officials told ABC News that they believe they have indications that a new terrorist attack against the United States is being planned there. They told ABC News that while their intelligence does not give any specific details as to a target or time, it does indicate that an emerging al Qaeda figure is making plans.

Pakistani military officials say Matiur Rehman, 29, a Pakistani militant, is behind the new plans for an attack against the United States. Pakistan has posted a 10-million rupee (about $166,000) award for his capture.

"He is probably Pakistan's most wanted right now," says Alexis Debat, a former adviser in the French defense ministry and now an ABC News consultant. "He is extremely dangerous because of his role as the crucial interface between the brains of al Qaeda and its muscle, which is mainly composed these days of Pakistani militants."

4. If another attack happens, it will be unquestionable proof
That the Bush Administration and the Repugs are WEAK ON DEFENSE.

WEAK ON PROTECTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

And since that has been their one and only strong selling point, they will all be voted out.

6. This happens anytime Bush's job approval ratings start to slip
too low. I always worry when they get this low for fear that something will really "happen". I put nothing past them.

12. Don't worry............
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 05:11 PM by Alamom
The prez sez:

........... the United States and its allies had foiled at least 10 serious plots by the al Qaeda terror network in the last four years, including plans for September 11-like attacks on both U.S. coasts. The White House initially would not give details of the plots but later released a fact sheet with a brief, and vague, description of each.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/09/bush.terror.ap/

&

Terror alerts had been a regular occurrence since 911 and especially during the 18 months prior to the Nov. 2004 Election...no one remembers having had an elevated (national) TERROR ALERT since.

No link, several blogs report no elevated alerts since 11/04.

Sooooo, we're ok. Right? :sarcasm:

13. Lousy poll results and Bush incompetence and lying are old news
It's like printing "tonight expected to be dark" every day.

There is no good news out there for Smirky. Even if he captured bin Laden tomorrow, he'd get a two-day bounce in the polls. His only hope is that Iraqis suddenly decide to become peace n love hippies, the Israelis and Palestinians decide they're best buddies, and China gives us $11 trillion to take care of the Bush deficit.

Hey, a girl can hope. Snicker.
