Poll question: Does Michael Brown deserve a brownie point for trying inform shrub
of the potential disaster with Katrina.

Or is he still a brown-nosing cronie?

2. Didn't he just slam into Bush like two three weeks ago?
I mean with some pretty compelling testimony about how Bush actually did no? THat doesn't sound like the work of a brown noser (although, admittadly that was partially a reflection of his frustreation with being blamed for the response to Katrina).

6. Doesn't sound like a brown-noser
But it does sound like an ass coverer. Just because he's telling the truth about what happened doesn't make him a good guy. It just so happens that the truth could be used to cover his ass. Of course this plays well for us, but I'm still not willing to give the guy any credit.

5. Yes he does. The tape shows before Katrina hit that he brought it forward
Now obviously the guy was out of his league and perhaps someone who was very experienced could have pulled it out on his own even with the President on autopilot.

However I'm giving him a point here due to the fact he did bring it forward and had knowledgable parties there to talk about to the President about it.

I think he should get credit for trying to alert the president.
however, he is still a brown nosing crony.

8. No "brownie" point from me...
I'll never forget the e-mail that was published about him needing a nice "dinner" somewhere. All while the citizens of NOLA were suffering.... sorry, but Brownie is an asshole in my eyes... i don't give a shit who he is "outing".

9. Wasn't the biggest concern...
Bush didn't ask questions during that briefing? Therefore, if a "boss" didn't ask questions, you just figure "he understood" the severity of this storm ?

Bush hates his job, doesn't he?

11. I almost feel sorry for him...
I said almost.
Since he knew these folks before he took a job he knew he was not qualified for he really should have seen it coming...

13. I will give him one brownie point for that, but deduct 1.5 ...
--for not doing his homework and realizing earlier that Bush would be useless in that situation (we've already seen how he sat there with the goat book in a crisis, and his cabinet members had to do things themselves, like ordering the planes to land). And then taking charge.

--the 0.5 is for those careless e-mails to his colleagues and subordinates ... the only reason I'm not taking away another whole brownie point is because I do realize it was a stressful time, and I'm a soft touch (my students will agree on that, I'm always letting people off if their dog dies, etc.)
