If Bush was so "fully engaged" with Katrina, as the WH says he was, then
why was he partying out West? If there was a huge disaster hitting a major US city, wouldn't it be logical for him to be back in Washington where he could monitor the situation and show some leadership? I think it was best that he wasn't in NO because he would just be getting in the way, but good grief, eating cake with John McCain and playing guitar at fund raisers? Does that sound like being "fully engaged" to you?

3. If he was so "full engaged" would he have had this exchange
with Elizabeth Vargas in her interview for ABC the other day:

VARGAS: When you look back on those days immediately following when Katrina struck, what moment do you think was the moment that you realized that the government was failing, especially the people of New Orleans?

BUSH: When I saw TV reporters interviewing people who were screaming for help. It looked — the scenes looked chaotic and desperate. And I realized that our government was — could have done a better job of comforting people.

That doesn't sound every engaged to me.

4. I think he went to the Joey Tribiani school of acting.
That was his "add big numbers in your head" look.

He was clearly too busy playing geetar and eating cake to actually care.

Then, maybe fully engaged simply means he was filling his Depends? I dunno, I'm asking.

5. shrub himself said it best, before he was even governor of texas:
"i'm really just a media creation".

if shrub was "fully engaged", all that means is that rove got a bunch of people to agree to SAY that shrub was "fully engaged".

that's ALL IT MEANS.

same thing with shrub being a "popular wartime president" or, well, any damn thing they say about him. he's the damn blank screen you project a movie onto.

6. Maybe his guitar is named "Katrina" the way B.B. King's is "Lucille".
That appears to be what he was "fully engaged" with:
