13. Problem?
Because I want to know if the things written there are true or not, if I should believe them, or not--if they are subjective opinion or objective fact.

until they "prove their mettle" so to speak.

Welcome to DU, OR don't let the door hit you, whichever applies. :dilemma:

9. Wiki isn't Freeperland.
> Just be careful of the Freeps that run things over there.

Wiki isn't Freeperland. If anything, it's got a lot of Libertarians running around,
but it's become a very international community so all the American political
nutcases are kept mostly in line these days.

11. I think they treated us reasonably well at WIKI-P.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Underground

Although, I think they got this part wrong:

"Democratic Underground has been criticized for censorship directed against both the political left and the right. From the left, critics have alleged that administrators and moderators unfairly ban ("tombstone") or censor posters who consider themselves to be to the political left of John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic nominee for the US presidency, and claim that DU is not truly liberal or progressive, but rather centrist, and adheres too strongly to the politics of the centrist Democratic Leadership Council (DLC). One group of these critics were affiliated with the People for Change forums founded by Howard Dean supporters who felt alienated from Democratic Underground during the contentious primary season, and many of them had been banned or were later banned from the Democratic Underground forums"

I think the average DUer is pretty far left of the DLC and even of John Kerry. And I also don't think the views of the Howard Dean supporters were censored from DU in 2004.

No, DU just banned lots and lots of them. Is that like censorship? ;-)

19. Yes, you really can edit it yourself.
Someone comes by and checks it to see if it's accurate, but it is for the people by the people.

I rewrote some misinfo about American troops leaving Saudi Arabia, and it's still there.....

20. Yes, that's the nature of wikipedia
You can also post whatever you like there, or edit what is currently there.

At the end of the day, though, I suspect it is only DUers and Freepers who ever actually look at the DU or FR wikipedia entries, so the whole game seems stupid and wasteful.
