Anyone know what the Capital Police Chief step down is all about?

On CNN Wolf Blitzer shortly ago that Terry Gainer, Capital Police Chief, is stepping down unexpectedly.

Anyone know if this is corruption related - or something else?

personally, I've been saying he should have been fired (especially after the Cindy Sheehan fiasco - SOTU).

hmmmm. makes ya wonder.

But it's the 1st I've seen of this situation, so don't know if it's the answer.

WTOP Radio has learned Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer may soon step down.

Gainer is under pressure because of the hiring of his son-in-law as a Capitol Hill police officer.

While the son-in-law was apparently properly trained and hired, questions have raised about whether this was legal under federal guidelines.

There's been criticism on Capitol Hill, from staffers and some members, about Gainer's decision to brief reporters directly, rather than consulting lawmakers about who does the briefing.

Oh, sweet, sweet irony.

not liking him talking to the press directly. They probably dug to find the nepotism and then used it. I wonder who those staffers and members are?

and NSA wiretap phone/email/internet recordings on EVERY person in power in and around Washington DC (as well as other politically strategic locations).

I'd like to know what "program" this guy wasn't willing to along with that got his card pulled. Considering his position - I wonder if it has anything to do with future "events" in DC.

We can only wait and see.

The ways things are going--out of control government, massive theft by the rich and the powerful, torture, slaughter of tens of thousands of Iraqis, murderous neglect of the black and the poor in New Orleans, more wars planned, trillion dollar deficit, out of control medical costs, out of control credit card interest, draconian banking practices, oil giants profiteering, war profiteering, Iraq war veterans being shafted, nobody at home when it comes to protecting the interests of most Americans--they may think they are going to need more than rubber bullets, tear gas and Darth Vader costumes to control public protest. Terence Gainer is an old hand at non-lethal crowd control in the government's interest. But what if it becomes in the government's interest to go lethal? I think he would balk.

He's been DC police chief a long time, and may know where some bodies are buried as well. I suspect it has nothing to do with corruption on his part, and everything to do with Bush junta objectives. DC as an armed fortress (moreso than at present)--for when the shit hits the fan? For when Diebold and ES&S turn out by-elections later this year that put more Bush "pod people" in Congress, despite his 38% approval rating, and the utter disastrousness of this regime? For when they bomb Iran and China calls our paper in? A police force willing to shoot Iraq war veterans and old people in wheelchairs whose Social Security fund has been looted?

I think this is very bad news, indeed--an ill omen. And I wouldn't believe anything the war profiteering corporate news monopolies say about it.

The kind that wouldn't hesitate to follow das Fuhrer's orders when the shit goes down. I know you feel it too, that something BIG is coming. All the Bush cabal is doing is properly setting up the board for "checkmate" on the US Constitution.

I hope you and I are both wrong. I really do.
