No sign of Phelps group as soldier's funeral concludes

Family, friends and supporters of a slain Missouri soldier paid their last respects as hundreds of spectators and law officers kept watch outside the Anderson funeral home.

The funeral ended shortly before 2 p.m., with between 100 and 200 veterans and motorcyclists standing at attention, some waving flags, in support of the family.

There was still no sign of Kansas protesters who had vowed to protest in defiance of a new Missouri law that bans funeral protests.

Mourners were preparing to begin a procession to the Jane Cemetery in Jane, Mo.
