6. Well, they completely Jessica Lynch'ed the circumstances of his death
They had him charging the hill with a knife in his teeth, when in actual fact, he was shot by his battle buddies....

7. His parents, and his brother, most likely
Some of his fellow soldiers likely gave the brother the real story.

10. Neglience about what--the crime or the coverup?
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 04:58 PM by rocknation
Death by friendly fire isn't a crime per se--what would there BE to cover up? If something WAS covered up, then criminal negligence is not the correct charge. And as always, put the timing of this story in context. Is this the Bush empire's way of showing "support" for the troops?

13. Don't know. Here's the quote right from CNN front page.
The Army will open a criminal investigation to determine whether former NFL player Pat Tillman's death in a 2004 friendly fire incident in Afghanistan was the result of negligent homicide, CNN learned Saturday. Tillman gave up a $3.6 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals to become an Army Ranger after September 11, 2001 terror attacks. Tillman was initially believed to have been killed by Taliban forces but an investigation revealed that fellow soldiers shot Tillman, thinking he was part of an enemy force firing at them.

Guess we'll have to wait for the rest of the story.

3. WOW
this could be HUGH!!!111

Tillman was on our side, and I've suspected for some time that the fire wasn't so "friendly."

12. I remember an epsiode of MASH when the unit was being bombed
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 04:56 PM by rocknation
Corporal Radar O'Reilly radioed headquarters and was told, "You are NOT being bombed--our reports don't show it." Radar threw the phone receiver out of the window so that they could hear the explosions. Then he radioed headquarters a little later and was told, "We've double-checked our reports--yes, you ARE being bombed. But it's okay because you're being bombed by OUR OWN pilots!"

15. Oh, thank goodness.
He deserves it,...his family deserves it. The whole situation was so weird and the exploitation of his death was just,...awful, AWFUL!!!

I don't know if any truth will be shed on what really happened to that exceptional man. But, at least, something is being done towards truth.
