Stop the Seal Hunt - Humane Society

I just tried to search for this and found out I'm apparently not considered a donor anymore :(

So I donated and I'm waiting for my donor status to come back around.

But in the meantime, I can't search!

But the Humane Society is trying to get support to stop the baby-seal-clubbing in Canada and I thought I'd pass this along:

I'm pretty sick about it. At work we use news photography and I was looking in a database for a "state seal" and instead all these horrible, gruesome pictures came up of bloody seals and little seals watching other little seals be clubbed to death and parent seals looking on, helpless.

I'm not religious but I can understand now why people need to believe in a heaven and hell. I can't imagine a living creature doing this to another living creature and not having it tear the fabric of the universe spiritually.

Me, too. :) I've been a vegitarian since I was 11.

But PETA scares me....

and they try to force their opinions on others. Really, don't they realize that being preachy and condemning non-vegitarians is only going to make people resent their cause?

Got any examples of how Peta tries to "force their opinions" on anybody...

What does PETA have to do with the barbaric seal hunt in Canada? Invoking PETA's name in an animal advocacy thread that doesn't deal with them is the equivalent of Godwin's rule, IMO. Also, what does it have to do with being vegetarian?

night. They showed some footage of the seals being clubbed to death. It was horrible. I've seen it before of course and I find it appalling. They're just absolutely beautiful, totally helpless, and the snow is soaked with blood.

Also there are incentives, compensation for the workers, McCartney and his wife were trying to explain it - but the seal harvest really adds very little to the GNP or to the "hunters'" purse.

I absolutely agree with Humane Society about this.

I don't know how these people sleep at night.
