Ok, for the record, I saw plenty of polls AGAINST SPYING
As far as I can tell there is like one stupid little poll that Scotty used to say that 60% of Americans think it's okay to spy - which is BULLSHIT by the way. I saw several such polls where the vast majority of people said it's NOT okay.

Regardless of the poll, we are supposed to be a nation of LAWS - remember those days when the pResident and his people couldn't just pick and choose the laws that apply to them?

Who gives a flying fig if the "polls" say it's okay? Still, for the record, I saw plenty of polls that contradict the bullshit Scotty and his ilk are peddling.

Rant Off

1. initially and immediately they all greatly opposed spying
for a week or two. it was after that they started re wording the polls to say bush spying on terrorist, instead of bush spying on americans. and the polls shifted

2. The one poll that I saw that supported it
was word "If bin Laden was calling a person in the US, should we"...

That is about as push polling as you can get IMHO..

3. nobody asked"Is it ok for the president to break the law in order to spy"
I think that would get a different answer than the non-issue they did ask about.

4. Exactly. Question: If you knew your neighbor was about to set off
a nuclear device in your hometown would you mind if we wiretapped his phone today?

5. Here are some questions I'd like to see in a poll:
"Are you okay with bush/NSA eavesdropping while you discuss your spouse's drinking/cheating problem with a friend via e-mail?"

"Do you approve of bush/NSA eavesdropping while you discuss your medical problems with your doctor on the phone?"

"Are you comfortable with bush/NSA eavesdropping while you discuss your finances with your accountant on the phone?"

"Are you willing to have a personally identifiable chip implanted by bush/NSA which would render you incapacitated if you utter certain words which are considered a threat to national security?"

7. One thing I see in this "if you have nothing to hide" mentallity...
is it's the same people who think it's outrageous to have to wait 30 days (not sure if the number is right) to buy a gun.Well I say if you have nothing to hide.......
By the way I am NOT anti gun just pro responsible gun ownership

I plan to use that on the next "if you have nothing to hide..." type. "If you have nothing to hide, then you don't mind being fully investigated before you can buy a gun, do you?"

8. Exactly
Somewhere there's a link around here to the poll that showed 60% in favor. It didn't address the question of the appropriate oversight. Just said, "Do you approve of the government wiretapping people who might be talking to terrorists?" It didn't add, "...in violation of the FISA law," or any other qualifier. What kind of question is that?
