Impeachment is REALLY getting serious
quote......
Michael Ratner and his fellow lawyers have drafted a call to impeach President Bush.
snip...........
But the distant rumbling is growing louder by the day, creating a resonant echo that is rapidly taking root in public discourse. “Impeach Him,” reads the cover of this month’s Harper’s magazine. And in a public forum in New York City last week, journalists, lawyers, and political figures came together to discuss the case against our president.
snip.......
fact, the case for the impeachment of President Bush is arguably the strongest in American history. The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) makes this amply clear in its recent book, a concise indictment of President Bush that lays out four clear legal arguments that point to impeachment as a necessary remedy for the gross violation of our Constitution. The Articles of Impeachment Against George W. Bush covers illegal wiretapping, torture, rendition, detention and the Iraq war. An appendix compares the impeachment proceedings of Andrew Johnson, Nixon and Clinton to the comparatively more powerful case against Bush.
end quote........

Now, This is fun!
Maybe, it's time for collective consciousness to save this country. If we all meditation everyday we can send the message into the cosmos that we need to save our country. March 20th, the start of Iran bourse is near. We don't have much time.

His pathological personality disorder is untreatable. Depriving him of a narcissistic supply for the remainder of his miserable life is an ideal punishment. At best, he should only be able to hear the faint echoes of his cronies occupying other cells.

A spontaneous eruption of joy so powerful that people couldn't help but to run out into the street and jump around like a child.

I'm completely serious, the crime, corruption and blatent disregard for truth is so fcking thick it permeates every interaction people have with each other in public, at work and at play.

A huge national burden would be gone.

34. There will be a huge worldwide celebration when Bush is gone.
Whether by impeachment, term expiration, or any other means, job one for our world is to GET RID OF THE CRIMINALS RUNNING AMERICA. The Bush administration is the major threat to world peace as well as to the continuation of the grand experiment we call America.

Imagine how wonderful it would be to not open the paper every morning and get punched in the face by some new horrible action of this nightmarish administration. It's been five years of this. FIVE YEARS. I'm about as fed up with these jerks as I can be.

Let's get rid of them. It may already be too late. I hope not.

Once these monsters are gone, I'm gonna party like it's 1999!

Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 11:17 PM by Cleita
he leaves office. Even if he resigns, if there is reason to impeach him it can happen. I know with Nixon, it was part of the deal to let him off of impeachment. But since Bush's offences so eclipse Nixon's (John Dean said so) he can still be impeached (so said John Conyers). I just finished watching the Harper's impeachment panel.

12. Oh I HOPE it's true
I really want these neocons OUT,and every one of them tried for treason..

AndI hope they and their funders/supporters allies whatever..are given the penalty for treason outlined in the constitution..Hung by the neck.
I agree with the Death penalty for tyrants.. because the founders knew if you let treasonous tyrants live another day, they will seek revenge.. they form allies among the right and corrupted and form networks with hateful greedy ignorant non democratic tyrannical types and never stop trying to dominate the world.

Look at how tenacious these fuckers we are dealing with now are..
For DECADES they have stealthily twisted this country apart.. twisted the minds and hearts of decent distressed people encouraging them to become selfish me first, elitist, hateful scared and bigoted fools waiting for the 'end times'Treasonous thugs do this by social engineering, managing perceptions, privatization ,doing evil shit overseas, gathering money from those not so closet anymore oligarchs, racists and theocrats..helping all those treasonous elements in society that should not be trusted anywhere near power in a functioning democracy,These pigs will never stop attempting to dominate, they will not cease infiltrating legit organizations and warping the laws and our government, These treasonous liars posing as rational men and public servants, wearing the mask of care to cover an agenda of control always seeking to subvert others freedoms and stirring up strife, corrupting law and justice itself, redefining truth to suit thier ends, and hurting others..

I hope so much all of these treasonous fuckers involved in this coup of my country are hung, and it is ON TV too ,because I want to see with my own eyes that for sure they are never coming back in another way,and can never attempt to infiltrate our government again..EVER.

15. Did you watch the Impeachment town hall on cspan tonight?
It was GREAT! The one thing that several of the panel members pointed out was that Impeachment doesn't start in the House, it starts with the PEOPLE! They said the only wat impeachment is ever going to happen is for the majority of people to contact their Reps and Sens and say "we've had ENOUGH! He's got to go!" One of the panelists said people need to hit the streets and protest! The other thing that they ALL agreed on is that a control change MUST be made in the House and Senate in Nov.

I thought about that, and they're right! WE THE PEOPLE must get very vocal! Marches in the streets CAN'T be ignored by the media!!!!

31. Sadly, I'm afraid you might be right.
They own it all lock, stock and barrel. They know no one can do anything to them, so they can be brazen. They already know they aren't going to lose congress, hell, they might even gain seats. Because as well as owning the three branches and the media, they own the voting machines and vote counters and they've had 6 years now to perfect the thefts. No more sloppy jobs like in Florida 2000. It's a streamlined system now; electronic, invisible, untraceable. And the best part for them is, the sheeple will never believe it's happening, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Hell, there is a large group of them that would welcome a fascist theocracy with open arms.

I have never wanted to be wrong about anything as much as I want to be wrong about this but hope is the denial of reality and I fear the reality is that America is in her last days.

Still we must go on and try. If there is even the slightest possibility we can somehow wrest the country back from the hands of tyranny we must attempt it. It's not over yet but this November is the very last chance the country has to right itself and the odds are stacked against it.

The only thing left after that would be violent revolution, something I can't see this couch potato nation participating in.

These are grim days.

76. They don't own US
Yes, they own the Congress, the media, the corporations. And yes, that's a lot to overcome.

So were the British in the Revolutionary War. By any sane assessment, we should have lost that one. But we won. Why?

Because of a few good people, who were willing to commit their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

Will it be easy? Of course not. Nothing valuable ever is. But the fact that impeachment is "in the air" right now tells me that something's rumbling under the topsoil.

Do what you can. Wear Impeach Bush t-shirts, write your congresscritters, work at the polls, talk to your friends and co-workers, write Impeach Bush on the backs of money (love that idea!). But do SOMETHING. It's in the air, folks. Let's fan the flames.

43. IMHO,
if the GOP wants to save their party, they will impeach him. They have created this mess by allowing many of his actions to go unchecked or unchallenged. The best and quickest way to salvage any respect and trust is to bring up charges on those that have done wrongdoing-unfortunantly that is most of the administration. They need to purge the Neocons from their party. I would start with Rove, then Cheney then Bush.

in chains then to the gallows then we get the monkeyboy and all of it's twisted cheerleading followers. This country must be cleansed, for our sake and the sake of the world.
It sucks getting up in the morning wondering what fresh hell has occurred overnight.

Especially that they answered the tough questions from the Q&A segment at the end. Unfortunately, it was broadcast very late last night and very early this morning. DUer rodeodance had a thread this morning, here:

48. I've been serious about impeachment since Dec. 2000
now I'm real serious about the Bush Regime spending the rest of their lives in prison for war crimes.

56. I think he and Cheney will be gone before their terms are up
one way or the other. There are too many impeachable offenses there not to mention incompetence and corruption at the highest levels. Now they are even pissing off their supporters. I can hear the death knell of the 44th Presidency in the distance.

54. That cover will sell lots of magazines...
to people like us who would love to see Bush impeached, but the reality is it won't happen unless Democrats win control of congress and have the power to hold hearings.

71. Vermont Town Backs Bush Impeachment
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 05:28 PM by SeekingDemocracy
By DAVID GRAM

NEWFANE, Vt. (AP) - In a white-clapboard town hall, circa 1832, voters gathered Tuesday to conduct their community's business and to call for the impeachment of President Bush.

"In the U.S. presently there are only a few places where citizens can act in this fashion and have a say in our nation," said select board member Dan DeWalt, who drafted the impeachment article that was placed on the warning - or official agenda - for the annual town meeting, a proud Yankee tradition in New England.

"It absolutely affects us locally," Dewalt said. "It's our sons and daughters, our mothers and fathers, who are dying" in the war in Iraq.

The article, approved 121-29 in balloting by paper, calls on Vermont's lone member of the House, independent Rep. Bernie Sanders, to file articles of impeachment against the president, alleging that Bush misled the nation into the Iraq war and engaged in illegal domestic spying.

75. Angry Republican woman scraping off her "W" sticker today
She was in the parking garage of her office, and was VERY unhappy with Bush. She was using her ice scraper to scrape the sticker off the back of her Cadillac. Several people walked by and APPLAUDED HER for removing the sticker! To which she said, "If I wasn't so angry at this man and what he's doing to our country, I would stop to bow!"

Then she said, "I'm 57 years old, and I've never voted for a Democrat in my life, but from this day forward, as God is my witness, I'm going to make up for that mistake!"

I'm not really sure what put her over the edge, but I suspect this is happening quite a bit lately.

Another passerby gave her an IMPEACH BUSH sticker, and she proceeded to put it on her car right there on the spot, right where the remains of the "W" sticker were. She said her husband was going to have a cow, but she didn't care, enough was enough. And until he changed his tune, there would be no peace in their house.

Another Democrat is born!

You gotta love it!!

79. Bush will be laying quite low in the up and coming weeks/months
Rove will suggest that Bush make some sort of comment about the wonderful late Dana Reeves at a stab at some sort of favorable comment to be recognized as his version of showing compassion.

Bush will continue to drag this country down in his remaining 3 years if he's allowed to remain President, even Wall Street had a piece on Bush impeachment this week!

80. Conyers has it in perspective. We cannot just impeach yet.
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 11:12 PM by Gregorian
edit- This post sucks... see the post directly below it...

He said it in the Cspan forum- if that would work, he'd be the first to do it. It would die in committee. It's going to take an independent prosecutor.

Darnit, I don't know the proper names for this stuff. It was either an independent prosecutor, or some other name.

The important thing to me is that a president can be impeached AFTER leaving office. We're not in any great rush. As long as justice is served.

81. Conyers call; write you congress critters, urge a SELECT COMMITTEE
Tell them they are required to, sworn to, legally obligated to -defend their branch of governemnt against all enemies. EVEN THE UNITARY EXECUTIVE branch!

Congressman Bernie Sanders says it would be impractical to call for impeachment. He is cowed by the majority and refuses to try to put up a fight.

We do not have an opposition party to resist the Rethuglicans, do we?

82. Thank you. That's what I was trying to say.
Select committee is the only alternative we have. The equally partisan committee that can start the ball rolling.

87. The Cspan forum suggested contacting Senators.
Evidently there are only six signed on to Conyers proposal. Gosh, I'm blabbing. I don't have facts. Six somethings signed on to a something...

I just recall one of the forum members saying how important it is to be there, in front of these Senators, in person, when they are in public. And how more will sign on as the public pressure is increased.

I don't know the answer to your question. I think Moveon should be contacted. I'll do that.

84. C-SPAN Sam Seder -Conyers; I wrote my Senator
The other one is a DINO and a waste of my time. But I wrote one in hopes that the Congress will do its duty to preserve and protect its power and authority to check the Executive Branch.

Isn't that what Conyers was asking us to do? The goal is impeachment, but a Select Committee is needed first.
