1. AKA... running out of "winnable issues"
so trying for the "all american" non-issue (as if there is a crisis across the country about flag burning) - to try to whip up the supporters. Er, Sen Frist - the cows are so far out of the barn that this is no longer likely to get you of the political petard you, bush and the whole GOP have created for yourselves.

3. protect it from WHAT? repubs are masters at framing....
the flag is NOT under attack

it does NOT need protecting

notice no use of "flag burning" or similar phrases

wish the dems could hire frist to frame dems issues :-)

4. Gee, this is another one of those "Vote early, vote often" polls...
A little more careful consideration would prevent the "clear your cookies" problem online polls face...

...I'm just sayin'.

5. He sent me an email about this an I told him to spend his time helping
people of this country obtain health care.

What are they messing with this stuff now for? We are in crisis mode and he decides that a flag amendment is of utmost importance?

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason the Democrats easily regain power after Republicans have pushed the county down the toilet........again.

10. Protect it from what? Does it feel? Have a soul? I'd rather see
Congress and the American people vote to protect the troops, our children, our ports, etc.

Yep, with the port stuff going on, it was time drag out the flag issue again.

...Mitch McConnell and Lincoln Chafee are both against the amendmendment. Chafee is understandable but as for Mitch, that's just weird.

14. I'm betting that this poll won't last until midnight

They always seem to get yanked when the numbers aren't going their way. Either that, or they simply reset the counters and try again.

I have nothing against the Flag, and I fly it most nice days of the year, but I was taught that when a flag gets tattered, the proper way to dispose of it is to burn it!

What ever happened with that?

Secondly, when was the last time you saw anyone in the US burning a flag because they were mad at the Gov't? I suspect that's what Frist is trying to prevent.

26. When Republicans are "under pressure" they drag this one out
of the dustbin every damned time.

Nobody needs to protect the flag. There's no epidemic of flag-burning in this country. Anyone seen one burning lately? Anyone burned one themselves in protest of anything?

Didn't think so.

Distract, obfuscate, pull the smoke and mirrors routine every damned time things are getting a little hot for you, Reoubs.

He must have seen a video of a flag burning. I don't think it has happened for many years unless you count freedom fighters in other countries, er insurgents.
So important mr frist, I wonder how we got by without you. doh
