I Was Shovelin' Shit and Sam Stopped By

Call it country life.

I was out shovelin' a load of composted manure out of the truck for transport to a new hot bed when my neighbor Sam came down the road on his 4-wheeler. He stopped to chat. Between us we're about 120 or so.

I figure Sam probably votes in about one election out of three, and more likely for a Republican than a Democrat. He can barely read, own's more guns than I do, and never had a dime in his life he didn't work like a dog for. He has been self employed at everything.

It did not take him 30 seconds to get around to what was on his mind. "That god damned Bush has sold our ports to the god damend arabs" While not a technically correct assertion I saw no immediate need to correct him. I mentioned the profit from running the ports has been estimated to be $5 Billion over 5 years - he hadn't heard that. I asked him if he knew of any American companys that Bush overlooked in favor of his turbaned buddys (another technical error) that might be interested in that kind of money. Fan the flames.

Out of nowhere Sam gave me his opnion of Clinton too. It seems that Sam doesn't much mind, and in fact seemed somewhat envious of, Clinton's private life. He told me he didn't give a good god dam if Clinton got his dick sucked, at least things were doing good back then. His words, not mine.

Seeing as how this perfect conversation was now in full stride I added as how I didn't think the Country owed Vets anything (which is something I honestly believe) but I'd be a son of a bitch if I served 3 tours in Viet Nam and got my dumb ass shot 3 times just to let that worthless cowboy wanna-be destroy my entire #$%^&ing country. That is an attitude that gets you lots of respect around here.

We ranted on for another 5 minutes about how the only solution is to shove all of the Republicans out of office, and to start with that bitch down the south end of this state - Shelly Moore Capitoe - and then get ourselves a real President - a Democrat.

Sam had a car body he was going to pick up, it'll bring $50, and I had the rest of the truck load of shit to deal with, it'll bring some serious Limas. So he went on down the road to see another neighbor.

One more point for our team

And that is how it begins, grassroots, one at a time...and when it's time to vote, call that guy, and make sure he has a ride to the polls!

I disagree about the vets though. I'm not one, but I sure do think we owe them (the original poster) a lot. You get your ass shot 3 times, you deserve medical care for that or anything else that comes up. You damn well earned it.

Truth in advertising. You might have gone and done your duty like a volunteer firefighter just because you felt it was the right thing to do, and good for you and your dedication to the US of A. But when the government signs on the dotted line and says, here is what you get - they should keep their word like the rest of us have to.

I hope you did not mean that. If our young people go to war, our damned coountry better damned well take care of them and their families if they are killed or serioously wounded!

I grew up in neighboring Ohio (shoveled a lot of shit, too :) ) and knew a lot of folks like you describe Sam. It's so good to know they're catching on to this BS.

Oh, and you'll never convince me that this country doesn't owe its vets big time.

beating this story like a drum. The entire web-world should be hammering this home, Bush incompetence or LIHOP/MIHOP = impeach Bush. Either choice is just as bad IMHO.
