4. I'm not sure...amazing that he would do a Q&A with them...
But the questions don't seem that sharp, so maybe he will only call on those he knows he can trust to ask "soft" questions.

He's going on about health savings accounts now...

9. Now: what are the US plans if there is a civil war in Iraq...
Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 10:18 AM by Wordie
Saying the people have elected their government...

Saying that people (Iraqis) have taken a step back (from violence)...

Ambassadors pleased with security response for the most part; most of violence was in Baghdad.

Key to form a unity government - will lead to greater confidence.

He's just going on and on about freedom and democracy in the ME. Saying that he believes liberty is universally desired.

Not exactly answering the question, is he? Maybe the strategy is just to fill up all the Q&A time with a non-responsive answer.

11. I loved how he said in the speech that Afghanistan was a haven for
AQ, but never once said that Iraq had been. The words of the speech were chosen very carefully ... but he did stray a bit at the end. I hope C-Span shows the speech too. It's worth a watch for the examples of hypocracy.

33. Now a question about teacher who was suspended over critical remarks
about Bush. Cracking cute little jokes.

Saying we have to protect people's basic freedoms: to express themselves in the public square, etc.

"That's what distinguishes us from the Taliban."

Gone off into a discussion of the Taliban and their treatment of the freedom of religion.

Can't let the public opinion polls cause you to change your beliefs. I decide big things and little things. You don't put your finger in the air to decide what to do. Can't be a good decision maker if you're trying to please people. Understands some decisions are unpopular...we've got to lead.

Getting quite incensed here.

president disussing terrorism and AQ and then quickly moved to the latest story du jour.

No detailed analysis, or talking heads reaffirming gwb's brilliance, as in the recent past.

I can sure see why he doesn't do press conferences at night, when more people might see his blathering live. MKJ
