Sweet Story: Boss give secretary of 30 years a new car!
http://www.sptimes.com/2006/03/10/Northpinellas/_She_s_the_oil_that_m.shtml

CLEARWATER - All eyes were on Sandy Mountjoy to see how she would react to her surprise gift.

<snip>
"Oh my. Oh dear. I'm staggering," she said when she realized that the brand-new Hyundai SUV with the big red bow was for her.

Calling her a "perfect employee," Schweitzer listed many of Mountjoy's attributes, from the way she treats clients to her ability to get things done and even the sound of her laughter.

"She's the oil that makes the place run," he said. "She's a rare, sweet individual. It's been a great 30 years."

other employees that have been around almost that long.

He is obviously a great boss who appreciates his employees.

Jeepers.

<snip>
While Mountjoy is not Schweitzer's only long-term employee - others have been there 25 years or more - she is the first to reach 30 years.

"We have a good group of workers," said Schweitzer. "They have good work ethics and loyalty."

Co-worker Agnes Tomlianovich gave Schweitzer the credit.

"Marty is easy to work for," she said. "He knows we know what to do and he lets us."

13. Hyundais are excellent vehicles.
Great gas mileage (even the SUVs aren't too bad), extremely dependable, nice options, etc. We've got a 2003 Accent (sport model) that's one of the best cars we've ever owned.

While Hyundais initially had some problems when they first premiered over here a couple of decades ago, they've evolved to be quite good, and are well reviewed in every consumer study I've seen.

16. yea fortunately my husband gets his bonus in cash

it's sweet in a way, but cute as it sounds to give a key employee cars and cruises, giving them money is better and then they can buy the car or cruise or what the heck ever they actually want

also she'll have to pay tax on it, it's part of her compensation, an employer can't really get away w. saying a car is a gift

would have been tax-free if someone else had given it to her in a non-job related situation but this is clearly a bonus for the 30 yrs of work

so it's a taxable event and she'll be getting a 1099 next year, hope she's aware of this and puts aside the money for the tax bill
