In the first week of April, I will be taking a trip to Washington D.C.
Every year my college's Political Science Department has a trip to Washington D.C. where the students get a chance to visit various think tanks, and important government buildings & sites, where meet with government officials, Representatives, and such. I went on this trip before in 2004, where I went to that State Department, the Justice Department, the think tank AEI, and met with with Sen. Hillary Clinton. I had a fun time over all, even though I really didn't enjoy visiting AEI(which is a right wing think tank).
But this year's trip is going to be really cool because we will/might be visiting the following places:
The Supreme Court
The Brookings Institute
The Washington Post
the office of Rep. Maurice Hinchey(D-22nd NY)
and a few other places.
I'm really looking forward to this trip, especially going to the Supreme Court & meeting with Rep. Hinchey, who is my Representative and a member of the Progressive Caucus with the Congress.:-)

2. Perfect timing for the cherry blossoms.

Last year's bloom was the best in over 20 years, according to long time residents.

9. Right by the Vienna Metro Station
In those massive apartment buildings just to the south. I've lived here for two years after leaving the Washington State. Next stop: Maryland.

PS - Love that picture.

4. I went recently, and stood out in front of the White House with a sign
that said Bring Them Home. I was photographed by a very handsome secret service blackshirt dude, asked for my name and how many more people was I expecting if any, and allowed to stand there for a couple hours. Interesting and valueable conversations ensued.

I am a member of Code Pink. No one is standing out there today. I would strongly encourage EVERY American who visits DC, to plan a few hours in front of the residen't house.

7. What are the chance of you real-time blogging your trip?
Or maybe a daily diary-like entry for us nosy.... uh, curious DU'ers?

Sounds like a terrific trip, DemGirl - I know you'll enjoy it. I haven't been to DC in forever, but I can still remember the beauty of the monuments and buildings, and the awe I felt at the Supreme Court and on the Mall. Try not to miss the memorials to our servicemen and women - you'll cry, but it's worth it.

8. Have a wonderful time!
And would you do me a favor?

Go by the White House and yell "Get the hell out of OUR house you a$$hole!"

It would make me feel so much better.
