Former Vice President Al Gore greets the audience following his speech to rally Florida Democrats at the Kravis Center's Cohen Pavillion. The fund-raiser drew a crowd of nearly 200.

WEST PALM BEACH — The people of "these United States are going to stand up and take our country back," former Vice President Al Gore said Sunday at a Florida Democratic Party fund-raiser at the Kravis Center's Cohen Pavilion.

"Let's start right here in Palm Beach County," said Gore, speaking to a crowd of about 450 in what became the epicenter of the hotly contested 2000 presidential election.

Before he was introduced, Mayor Lois Frankel said, "I'm not one to hold a grudge . . . but this was the scene of a crime (in 2000). I haven't forgotten it, and you haven't forgotten it."

Picking up on her sentiment, Gore urged Democrats to "not take anything for granted," because sometimes, "feeling the prospects of victory and success, you know that's a deadly error."

Citing a Bible verse, "Where there is no vision, the people perish," Gore cited issues in which he believes the Bush administration has left the country far removed from the Founding Fathers' ideals.

3. Fineman: Tell me something I don't know - Gore in 2008
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 04:06 PM by ourbluenation
On the Chris Matthews show this sunday during the "tell me something I don't know" segment Howard Fineman of Newsweek stated that Gore could be a contender in 20008. K and R just for that. The idea of President Gore is "out there" now.

4. But I heard his daughter say
He will never run for public office again.

My first choice is Dean, second choice is Gore. Frustration.

6. never say never...the fat lady hasn't sang yet.
Here's hoping. Fineman said the new movie coming out re: Gore and the environment will give him rock star status, or something to that effect.

19. That would be sweet. Gore needs someone to loosen him up.
Al Gore's depth of experience and knowledge make him outstandingly qualified. Problem is, at last in the 2000 campeign, he seemed to freeze in front of the TV cameras and come off as wooden and detatched.

People who know him say that Gore is not like that in private so maybe he needs help bringing out the real Al Gore in public.

Dean's funny and spontaneous, not to mention capable of playing the political attack dog with a great deal of flair.

It could be fun.

FAHRENHEIT 9/11: Congressional Black Caucus members tried to object to the election outcome on the floor of the House; no Senator would sign the objections.

“While Vice President Al Gore appeared to have accepted his fate contained in two wooden ballot boxes, Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus tried repeatedly to challenge the assignment of Florida's 25 electoral votes to Bush…. More than a dozen Democrats followed suit, seeking to force a debate on the validity of Florida's vote on the grounds that all votes may not have been counted and that some voters were wrongly denied the right to vote.” Susan Milligan, “It’s Really Over: Gore Bows Out Gracefully,” Boston Globe, January 7, 2001.
The Congressional Black Caucus effort failed for “lack of the necessary signature by any senator.” Sen. Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) had previously advised Democratic senators not to cooperate. ‘They did not.’” Robert Novak,
“Sweeney Link Won't Help Chao,” Chicago Sun-Times, January 14, 2001.

The hell with trying to be nice to these cretin nazis. Take back OUR country and screw those unAmerican thugs with their fake morality, warmongering and bigotry. They're only a third of this country.

16. Gore in 2008

He is the elected President of the USA.

I am supporting Al Gore in 2008.

Add Dean or Feingold or Molly Ivins or Bill Moyers but I am supporting the Greenman in '08.

22. We're going to have to stand up and take our Country back.
We elected Congress to represent our interests and for the most part, they have failed to do their sworn duty.
