This is an outrage. CNN: "Does Bush have a Jimmy Carter problem?"
http://www.cnn.com/

http://www.cnn.com/video/player/player.html?url=/video/politics/2006/03/15/bash.bush.troubles.cnn

"A public perception that he is no longer competent to run the government."

Hey CNN, that perception has been there since day one. The moment Bush was appointed by the U.S. Supreme Court is the day the public lost faith in this government and it's leaders. Carter brought peace between Egypt and Israel. Bush has brought nothing but warfare and a pestilence of bombs and bullets raining down on innocent civilians. Pretty pathetic journalism, when they brow beat a former President who has done more for this country and the world than Bush and his entitled, plutocratic ass has or ever will do.

4. Even politically, that's wrong.
Carter may have had his problems, most were created because he was a micro manager, but Carter NEVER ignored the law, lied to the American people, or arrogantly showed off his power!

There is NO comparrison at all!

9. Also Carter was an outsider
Who didn't conform to the Washington establishment's rules. For that he was reviled.

21. But the end result was the same...a nuetered president.
Again its not about the specifics...were not comparing the MEN...Just their circumstances...

Its not a great analogy - but worth considering...even to dissmiss.

10. Time for another "What can Bush do to bounce back?" story
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 11:53 PM by bluestateguy
I should have known. Expect the following stories on the networks:

"Wolf, how can President Bush restore his standing with the American people...?"

"Chris, how can President Bush convince people that he is a strong leader once again...?"

"Brit, what can President Bush do to get his programs passed in Congress...?"

"Tom, how can President Bush fight back against all these Democrat attacks...?"

"Cokie, is this healthy for the country for President Bush to be in so much trouble with the American people...?"

As if it is a given that him seceding and being popular would be a good thing for the country. As if it is some kind of tragedy for the whole country that the little spoiled brat is unpopular, and we should all wish for him to be liked again.

11. I was in second grade during the Carter/Reagan election...
all I remember thinking is, why would they make a movie star president, when we already had a good president who also used to grow peanuts to make peanut butter?

Even back then I knew the difference between a shallow 'elite' and a hard working real man.

:)

12. No - he doesn't, unfortunately. Carter was HONEST, HARD WORKER, JUST,
KIND, TRUTHFUL, AND A WHOLE HOST OF NOBLE THINGS.

Whereas, bunkerboy is a WAR CRIMINAL, THIEF, LIAR, LAZY, FAILURE, CORRUPT, AND A WHOLE HOST OF DESPICABLE THINGS. He isn't worthy of holding Jimmy Carters Feces.

13. sigh
I hate this shit how if you've been opposed to Bush all along, you're a lefty nutjob. But if you were fooled for five years and you're only now coming around, you're trendy as a totebag. CNN says you're allowed to think Bush is incompetent now, kids.

14. you know, that just sent me right over the top
maybe it's late and maybe I'm tired
but I went IMMEDIATELY to CNN.com
and gave them a piece of my mind
what the hell are they thinking?

I told them most people in this country WISH Bush 'had a Carter Problem'
then maybe he'd be seeing to it that houses were getting built on the coast
or maybe he'd try diplomacy rather than blowing up or threatening to blow up countries

good grief!

I also told them that they have NO IDEA how short our fuse was at this point
and that we've had it.
We will write and call and email and LET THEM KNOW how we feel at every opportunity

hope you guys are with me on THAT one

16. It's hard to find a president as bad, as ignorant, and mule headed...
...as Bush. But he does serve his masters well, which should probably make him more comparable to many of the "Gilded Age" presidents.

24. No, but CARTER had a "bush-family "problem"... Baker (bush-pal)
convinced the Iranians to hold the hostages because he (and poppa Bush) told them they would get a better "deal" if they were released in "movie-style" as reagan was sworn in..

amazing how "ForrestGumpy" GHWB is.. he seems to always be connected to major events in history that always turn out very badly of others, but always seem to boost his own stature (or of the 'family')..

JFK assassination
hostage release
assassination attempt on Reagan
Iran Contra
sinking the Middle east peace talks at the end of Clinton's term

and probably a lot more that we don;t know

26. I'm fairly sure that GHWB was recruited by CIA in the 50s
He is the poster boy for government secrecy. The CIA has assassinated and perpetrated coups the world over to spread their brand. Why wouldn't they do the same in the US by installing one of their own?

making a reference getting across the point that his ratings are soaring to the cellar, I don't care how they do it. That's a good thing.
