Israel Confirms Bird Flu Outbreak-1000s of Birds Have Flu Virus
Israel confirms bird flu outbreak

Around 11,000 birds have died in Israel's first outbreak of the virus

Israeli officials have confirmed that thousands of turkeys and chickens found dead in the south of the country had the H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus.

Tests were ordered after the dead poultry were discovered on two farms in Ein Hashlosha and Holit, next to the Gaza Strip in the western Negev desert.

Several people have been admitted to hospital with flu-like symptoms.

A quarantine has been imposed around the area and thousands of birds are expected to be culled over coming days.

Sorry, but this is just too strange ~ I just read a report saying that there is little chance of a pandemic and little evidence that this strain will jump from birds to humans in any large numbers. Now, our closest 'war' partner has the WMD needed to distract the public from the Pentagon Spy trial, the Plame investigation, the Libby pre-trial motions, the Domestic Spy possible censure and/or impeachment controversy, the totally failed Iraq War not to mention Abramoff, who will be sentenced at the end of the month.

I find it very strange the Israel has all these people with 'flu-like' sympthoms so suddenly, considering all that I've read about this over the past few days.

Maybe I'm just paranoid in reverse or something ~ but months ago when someone asked what we could expect when this administration got into serious trouble, I do remember 'bird flu! bird flu!' being the most likely choice of scare tactics ~ plus, it had the added attraction of making certain people in this admistration even more wealthy than they already are ~ that's the kind of scare tactic these neocons like best ~

Who was it who said 'keep the people scared'?

2. You're not paranoid.
Unfortunately, the modern media is about sensationalization, and the public buys it. They don't want facts, they want entertainment.

Could bird flu someday make it here and even infect humans? Sure. So could any other number of things. It's all speculation, and until we have some concrete evidence, the only point of populating the news with these stories is to distract from our more immediate problems.

This, I predict, will go the way of things like SARS and anthrax (which we now hear of rarely, if at all).
