NSA Sweeping Surveillance- shouldn't we be able to decide IF
we are going to allow this at all? I'm naturally against the DeWine bill which would legitimize Bush breaking the law by establishing an oversight committee but I believe that by the fact that it *starts* at the time the NSA passes the info over to the Senate misses the point of origin.

My question is whether the NSA ought to be indiscriminately collecting information from the telecomm switches at all. I've been listening to a Presidential Wartime Powers meeting on Cspan2 this morning and one of the participants brought up that the reason NSA is an issue now is that they used to do their surveillance by microwave but now it's through transatlantic cable which picks up ALL transmissions.
