i'll always remember that line from "those were the days", made famous as the theme from the sitcom "all in the family".

never could understand it, though, until shrub. didn't everybody think that hoover was mr. disaster president who gave us the depression? i'm sure he had his supporters when he was president, but after the great contraction, wouldn't everybody deny ever having met him, the way shrub denied ever having met kenron or abraham jackoff? or the way so many banana republicans are now starting to say "we felt uncomfortable all along"?

well, shrub is always going to have his never-say-die true believers, even if it comes down to just a few towns in idaho, utah, and wyoming. and when the rest of us are crawling out of the carnage and ruin that shrub leaves us, there will still be those who pine for the good ol' days way back at the beginning of the 21st century, and sing,

It seems to be an anti-FDR statement more than anything. Just goes to show that the propagandists have been at work convincing working pwople that black is white for a long, long time. They've been very successful, actually convincing those that live on social security that it's an evil "gubnit" program. Of course the kool-aid drinkers then and now would never send their evil checks back. On my bad days, I just think "there really is no cure for stupid."

but mostly selfish and mean. they want theirs, and they believe they deserve it. they don't want anyone else to get a piece though, because that just means there's less for them.
