If you're not happy after reading this...there's something wrong with you
The polls of every type and description now from every pollster are showing Bush soaring to the cellar and the Dems soaring in popularity.

This is incredibly good news because these polls do not move to these kinds of numbers in a knee jerk way. They move like a glacier. If martians landed at the White House, 40% of the Americans wouldn't react to it or opine on it until they saw gray men with big black eyes peering at them in their bedroom window.

To illustrate my point, 39% of Americans still think Saddam Hussein was directly connected with September 11th.

There is nothing that can happen in seven months that will turn these numbers to a Republican miracle. It has taken four years of nose holding disasters--one after another-- to get to these poll numbers. Fifty two percent to thirty seven percent want Democrats to retake Congress. Sixty percent of America or more now using the main word to describe Bush---INCOMPETENT.

These numbers are because of independents cursing Bush and the disgraces he's brought on the office. And even disgusted Republicans. It is not possible to get to these numbers without Republicans defecting.

The budget is another nail in the coffin...done deal.

Republicans nixed any more money for port security...done deal.

Republicans wimping on any meaningful lobbyist reform...done deal.

The national debt and deficit killing them, had to raise debt ceiling fourth unprecedented year in a row...done deal.

Abramhoff is going to be like a thousand paper cuts every time a new prosecution detail is announced...done deal.

The word impeachment being thrown around now gleefully and forced onto mainstream media. Huge cities voting in favor...done deal.

This is without even considering the Academy Award Winning Disaster... disgust of America over Iraq.

People are angry about every issue. Nothing can turn these poll numbers around by November. We are going to re-take Congress...BET ON IT !!!

1. Diebold has computer chips that can turn those numbers around
in one day. So do ES&S and Sequoia...

8. Keep spreading that news
and hopefully the people in the states that have op-scan. Will DEMAND a "FOR REAL" RECOUNT of the voter verified paper ballots.

Then and only then we will re-take Congress...BET ON IT !!!

You are dreaming my friend.

3. I would be happy
But this little voice in the back of my head keeps whispering "Diebold, Diebold...."

4. Must figure Katrina in there somewhere; that was the straw that
broke many opinions. Good post! Well, except for those 39% of Americans who are still clueless and think Saddam Hussein was directly connected with September 11th. That's scary. :scared:

5. Months after the war started - nearly 2/3 of the population
believed that Saddam was behind 911. A shift of more than 20% of the population on that point means a lot of people have had an awakening. I would bet that there is still more shifting ahead.

6. I agree about the slowness being a steady move. One thing could flip it.
A major terrorist attack on an American city.

Would the right actually possibly resort to black-ops if the writing is on the wall?

I have to on every 3rd Thursday of every 2nd month entertain a little tinfoil because of this particular Administration gang. :tinfoilhat:

11. Another attack would hurt them incredibly, I think. Would show
that they CAN'T protect us, just like with Katrina, except that they RAN on "terra" alone and so an attack would be even more damaging for them, IMO.

Besides. They've engaged in black-ops from the very beginning, if you ask me. It just won't work for them as well now.

But wait...
polls like this sample the fundies, among others, according to their natural occurrence in the wild. However, the fundies can be whipped into a I'll-Go-To-Hell-If-I-Don't-Vote frenzy where they will turn out in incredibly high numbers. High enough numbers to defy the polls.

Its all about GOTV for us too, regardless of poll numbers.

7. To posters 1, 2, and 3, re: voting machines
I understand your skepticism. God knows I don't trust the machines either (thank God I don't have to vote on 'em). But whereas in 2000 and 2004 the country was more evenly split, and thus, stealing votes was easier, the split now is much wider, and many many people do NOT like what is going on, and DO want checks and balances. Bush has a, what, 36% approval rating, and a lot of people want a Democratic Congress to put the brakes on the Bush Administration. I think it will be much more difficult to steal votes this time than it was before.

9. They are already pushing stories that people feel that "their"
representative is okay, it's the rest that suck and that people who are pro-Dem don't bother to actually vote.

10. BushCo cannot allow the Democrats to take control of Congress . . .
not if they want to stay out of prison . . .

and they certainly have the capability of making the elections turn out however they wish . . . witness 2000, 2002, and 2004 . . .

12. I'll believe it on Nov 3, 2006
I hope you're right.

But these numbers can change between now and november. A positive media spin on Iraq here, a "family values" amendment against gay marriage there, and these numbers could change.

I, for one, won't be resting on my laurels.

:toast: to a democratic majority in 2007!
