Do we have any DUers in their 70's?

In 1967 SCOTUS overturned the ban on interracial marriage. Was there a public out cry either before or after this happened. WHY is Gay marriage in the public forum. IMHO, this is a Constitutional issue. I venture to say if we allowed a direct vote on interracial marriage today it would not get the support to pass.

Colorado State of Mind had that as one of the two subjects they discussed tonight. Colorado will have 2 initiatives on the 2006 ballot, one gay marriage and the other civil unions(will all benefits heterosexuals couple have)

1. It was the 1960's not the 1950's.

Loving vs Virginia was in the 1960's as to any reaction, I am too young to remember.

4. I believe you're all wrong on the date!

While living in Mass. my late husband and I were married in 1964. He was black, and I am white. It was legal then!! Unless you were just referring to some Southern States? It must have been before then. What is the reason for your inquiry?:shrug:

5. It was illegal in southern states until loving v virgina

a case Bobby Kennedy's Justice Department helped shepherd through the courts. MA I am sure was a bit ahead of places like VA and the rest of the South.
