"The nerve he (Feingold) tapped is way beyond political squabbling. ...
... This should not be some big mystery.

<clip>

Feingold's popularity among Democrats has soared from 22% before he introduced the resolution to 52% after the resolution.

2. Yes--and it has not been even a week!
Just finished watching his interview by Charlie Rose (another dead winger whom I despise.) Rose was, if not sympathetic, at least fair, only beating on the r/w shill "some are saying-" questions just a little.

Dem I've seen in a long time. Like Dean only more composed and a Rhodes Scholar. Nice.

That's SWEEEEEEEET!

Any bets the Senate Dems who've been dragging their feet on censure now decide to come on board in support? The petty cowards might yet be persuaded to do the right thing.

9. Sorry, can't afford to lose the money
time and time again, they have handed opportunity on a silver platter. Each time they shy away from it. See this Mike Luckovich editorial cartoon:

14. That is very encouraging
What might be even more important is his popularity among independents and Republicans. I'll bet his approval went up among them as well.

One would think that this kind of information would cause more Senate Dems to get behind him. The fact that they have not yet seems very strange to me. Are they afraid for their lives?

15. I hope this shows all those who think ...
that 'keeping our powder dry' is helping that they are wrong. The people -- US, remember us? The people who the elected officials are SUPPOSED to be working for??-- are ready for officials who will DO something. Anything, at this point. It's way past time to stand up and fight on any front possible.

18. Until Dems find some balls
like Feingold did and get back to the core tenets of the party, they will not recapture their base. Feingold has been consistently against Bushspit.
The sheeple in the Democratic party will have to follow him, but it will be too late for the Hillary types.

22. More indicative of how oblivious "we" are to what's going on.
Why should Feingold get a sudden 30 point bump? He's the same guy fighting the same causes in the same way as two weeks ago. The public needs to pay better attention.

This is the result of reporting the republican outrage over this. The only time the sheeple get a clue is when this stuff hits the corporate press.

24. According to the OP, the 30 point boost is among Democrats.
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 12:14 PM by Telly Savalas
I'm not really sure who the "sheeple" are, but since the Democrats are supposedly the opposition party, it'd be a lot more effective if its members would spend just a tiny bit of time to pay attention to the activities of its best leaders. If they choose not to, it's not the fault of the media.

26. But, they think they are paying attention when they watch the news.
Up until about 3 years ago, I thought that way too. I mean no political affiliation when I use sheeple. The activities of Democratic leader is so under-reported and borderline slander when it is that if you don't pro-actively seek the news, the picture you assemble is perverted.

Certainly not all those, in their neverending well of wisdom, that thinks Feingold had to ask permission from Spineless Dems to hold the president accountable.

31. I support censure!
Censure in the senate- then push for impeachment in the house.

Someone needs to introduce the complimentary articles of impeachment in the House of Reps- on illegal wiretapping alone. The case is cut and dry. The trial will be quick and painless and uplifting to the country and justice itself.
