Talked w/a DOD guy today: "media is the enemy of the state" he said.
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 12:09 PM by Mika
I was out doing my Sat AM exercise regime and this DOD guy has joined our cycling group the last few weekends. Did some chatting w/him today and discovered that he's a DOD analyst (Latin American counter terra). According to him ALL of the US media, except.. you guessed it.. FAUX news, is hard left liberal and working to bring down America. When asked he said that it was pretty much the opinion of most of the analysts he has worked with. When asked he said that he didn't watch much news or the cable outlets, so I questioned just how did he come to this opinion about the media. He didn't have any real answer, just that he knows that the media is the enemy of the state and that the so called liberal media is not engaged in the exercise of freedom or democracy.

His opinions --> Iraq is and was a terrorist state. Had to be taken down. Same goes for Iran. And Venezuela. Oh.. and the media too.

F-ing scary. :scared:

22. Did he sleep through Government or Civics or whatever it goes by now?
What happened to a free press is the watchdog of liberty, etc... There was a time when people had a clue what in the hell they were supposedly fighting for.

9. Wonder what his definition of the "exercise of freedom:" and the
"exercise of democracy" would be? I would have to ask - along with how he sees those things being expressed in our own country.

11. I asked many of the questions posted here..
.. it seems that, to many at DoD, FAUX is doing it right.

I really didn't want to turn a bike ride into a deprograming session, but this guy needs a heavy dose of therapy.

He REALLY HATES Michael Moore and his commie movies. I asked.. he hasn't seen any of them. :eyes:

13. What happens to media shareholder valuation once they've destroyed
the nation? I mean, why would a company destroy the nation that allows it to be a company and is the force behind all of Wall St? Is US media determined to drive itself into bankruptcy? Bet he couldn't have answered that one.

Maybe he could ask Rush the next time he gets through on the call for opinion line

17. I asked him that.
He seemed unaware that MSCNBC is a GE entity. He seemed to think that the news divisions of the large corporations are completely autonomous.

I really don't know how to approach someone with such little awareness (on a bike ride).

27. Even without the ownership by GE - the US system supports private
property rights and the entire Wall St structure. What would happen to the value of media (and all other) stocks if the US were destroyed or went belly up? The Depression would appear like a mild bump in the road. So the idea that media wants to destroy the US is the same as thinking media is suicidal.

15. This is why I can't join "groups" like this...
And why I don't socialize that often anymore.

I would have waited until we got into traffic, or next to a steep drop off, and I would have KICKED his bike so he would spin out of control, and get run over or suffer injuries from a long fall.

I have ZERO tolerance for these idiots, and when I encounter them, I eye them like prey.

When I hear someone spout some BS like you described above, the first thing I do is stare like one would at a uncontrolled child, throwing a fit in a grocery store.

Then I threaten to kick their ass, not because of their "liberals ruin everything" beliefs, but for being "SO FUCKING STUPID".

My last "girl friend" left me because I asked her if she was adopted in front of her "BUSH IS LORD" brother.

Then I said to both of them that she "HAD" to be adopted, because there was no way that she could be related to such a stupid, Kool-Aide drinking, religiously insane, Bush loving hand-job.

She's gone.

Oh well, that what I get for being single in freaking KANSAS.

Edit...The DoD taught me the rear strangle takedown BTW!

26. The media (i.e., formerly known as the press) SHOULD BE the enemy of
the state. Unfortunately, it has become a lapdog propagandist for the state.

This guy doesn't recognize Stalinism when he sees it. That's one piss-poor, yes-man, Bush toady American! Send him back to history class.

Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 04:06 PM by Neil Lisst
It's hard to believe anyone who actually analyzes foreign countries from DOD could be so uninformed as to list Fox News as a reputable source of news.

The whole "liberal media" thing would be comical if not so tragic. The same people who run the government run the megacorps of media.
