Rumsfeld - leaving Iraq like giving Nazis Germany

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Leaving Iraq now would be like handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis, U.S. Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in a column published on Sunday, the third anniversary of the start of the Iraq war.

"Turning our backs on postwar Iraq today would be the modern equivalent of handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis," he wrote in an essay in The Washington Post.

Rumsfeld said "the terrorists" were trying to fuel sectarian tensions to spark a civil war, but they must be "watching with fear" the progress in the country over the past three years.

In London, former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said on Sunday that Iraq is in a civil war and is nearing the point of no return when the sectarian violence will spill over throughout the Middle East.

3. Rumsfeld also compared Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez
to Hitler.

Why are conservatives so angry and making these outrageous Hitler comparisons?

5. When did Iraq invade POLAND, I ask? And subdue FRANCE?
That boy needs to go back to school and get himself a degree in HISTORY. Apparently his polisci major was a little short on the historical background of conflicts, either that, or dementia is setting in.

6. Their rhetoric gets more desperate every day
When they start conjuring the Nazi boogeyman it means the Al Qaeda boogeyman is no longer sufficient. I think their rhetoric is in its last throes.

7. turning our backs on "postwar" Iraq
So the "War" is over and Bush* is no longer Commander in wartime. If the "War" is over let's have a victory celebration. Like when all other wars were declared over.

8. He compared acts (you know, verbs with event
structures) not actors (nouns, such as people).

I never thought the lack of cooperativeness in communication would get to the point where people not only prefer interpretations that are contradicted by the grammar, but actually fail to see them. Grice must be turning over in his grave.
